Lisa Romerein

Photographer Lisa Romerein specialises in food, travel, lifestyle, architecture, interiors and .... "lovely". She excels at "lovely". Look at this portfolio! Just gorgeous. I want to jump through the screen and make myself at home in every photo. If that is part of Lisa's mission statement then she's succeeded. Lovely light, lovely rooms, lovely feel to each shot.  Just lovely.  P.S. Ever wonder how to "lift" heavy oak furniture? Check out the perfect blue to liven even the most dour of dark wood. After the jump.

G. P. Schafer Architect

"The things one loves about old houses - their sense of history, their time-worn easy comfort, the way they sit on the land with an air of inevitability, their elegant proportions and details - can still be had in a new house today, and they are at the heart of the work we do. Through a dynamic combination of discernment, taste, imagination and rigor, we strive to create new places for our clients to live and enjoy life. These places are rooted in tradition but also keenly attuned to the demands and opportunities of life today. They celebrate craftsmanship and quality, comfort and decoration, natural light and the importance of connecting the rooms inside with the landscapes which surround them. At the end of the day, our goal is to make places that are beautiful, comfortable, of exceptional quality, and seem as if they have always been there."

A first house

Lucia Korcarz is a young architect in Argentina. She has just finished her first house associated with Anthony Sibbald. Located on a farm 100km from Buenos Aires it is so stylish, casually elegant and practical. It's simplicity is its beauty. A wonderful career ahead I think.

Reader's home

Reader Laurel Walter lives in southern Oregon and this is her fabulous home. These shots were taken by Matthew Millman (my earlier post on Matthew here) for a magazine feature. Laurel says her home is a trifecta project involving herself and Jennifer Bright, her partner in their interiors styling business, Twist, and Dewayne Lumpkin, owner of Home Economics. Unfortunately the magazine folded and Lauren's home remained unpublished but I am so jealous because Laurel has these amazing photos! I spy so much that I love. I'm ticking off the industrial items and found objects that I want for my place but most of all I'd kill for a wonderful outdoor room like Laurel's.

Monday's pets on furniture

If you'd like to send us photos to include in next week's "pets on furniture" post, please ensure your photos follow our basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. (Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off...and your pet happens to be sitting on it). And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it's dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.com and PLEASE don't send me closeups of your pet!)

"Hi, this is my British Shorthair Mason sitting on my a chair of mine. It's tough to get his hairs off the furniture, but he's so stylish up there that I don't mind it. His coat goes well with my grayscale Lego Beatles, and his eyes match the golden pillow and lampshade."
- Benjamen (Seattle)....more pics of his place on Apartment Therapy and his blog

"I'd like to contribute a couple of photos of our Norwegian forest cat Kharma. Our Spanish leather dining chairs are perfectly curved to qualify as a favourite spot (contrary to most cats, Kharma is not too fond of soft furnishings...). If our outdoors roof staircase can count as 'furniture', that's another favourite..."
- Rebecka (Stockholm, Sweden)...check out photos of her AMAAAAAZING home on her blog)

"Here is a picture of Moses my rescue from Katrina on his plush dog bed which is hidden under a TJ Maxx treasure I found!"
- Michelle (Virginia Beach, VA)

"Our boys and girl enjoy their lounging time on a resurrected sleeper sofa... I made the linen slipcover to ease clean up of puppy prints and any body fluids which might escape.
Left to right: Mustachie (moose stash ee), Chachi and Telulah Bell. The dogs are sweet Havanese.
"
- Alice and Erin (Chelsea, Michigan)

"The first picture is of our dog Ziggy on the couch. We think she is a Pit-Bull / Boston Terrier mix (we rescued her when she was about 6 months old, so we don't know for sure). She is almost 3 now. The couch was a lucky craigslist find, and the pillows are from Anthropologie, Target and Urban Outfitters. The second picture is of Ziggy and one of our cats, Maynard on our king-sized bed. The duvet is from Target and the lamp is from Ikea. Maynard was also a rescue and has a lot of personality."
- Amy and Jake (Tampa, Fl)

"Here is our dog Oscar on our favorite vintage chair, he loves to pose for the camera, and yes that is him in the picture up on the wall."
- Erin (Philadelphia, PA)

"Attached is a picture of my dachshund, Arnie, lounging on her favorite ottoman."
- Ashley (Tampa, Florida)

"This is Buckley. I got a new little white cupboard at a garage sale and he stuck to it like glue all night. And I'm sending you a couple pictures of him with other garage sale finds, just so you can see him better."
- Phyllis

And because I didn't get as many entries as I usually do for today's post, I thought I'd sneak in one of some of my herd. This photo was taken a while back - it's Felix and Lucky (the 2 fatties) on my Ikea baby changetable hack that is STILL most of my 7 cats' favourite place to have a snooze.
