Stalking a wedding cake

Can a house be so very different on the inside when the outside is a Italianate marzipan confection?  A wedding cake of a house all vanilla icing flourishes but what flavour is the inside? Seems that each layer is different. Love the kitchen. Can you imagine having that much space? Bright green doors, soaring ceilings. The bathrooms are interesting. A stylish take on the Moroccan riff but tell me truly why a bench beside the "throne"? And please someone dress the bed for the photo shoot! All said and done you'll find me in the plunge pool with a glass of wine taking in the view. Today's stalking house is here while the link lasts.

WINKS

... spring sunshine

WINKS - weekend links. Here we list what has come in during the week, things we've found and things we think you'll want to see. If you'd like to see your blog or website featured email us and if we think it fits with our readers we'll link you. So what's in this week?

  • James Ward illustrates plates. Big bad bears and wee small wrestling mice with a thing for sweets. I can't make up my mind which one is best for my husband but I'm definitely having the wolf! Etsy store here.

  • Loving these pure hemp rugs hand woven in India for cloth. Julie Paterson's pared back landscapes, simple abstract shapes in bold earthy colours. Want to rub my toes on these.

  • The Child’s Chair, designed by Kristian Vedel in 1952 and produced by Architectmade. Classic design that is chair and stool, table and cradle. Definitely a family heirloom in the making.

  • Gorgeous furniture by Town & Country Style.  French provincial to industrial and based in Armadale, Victoria. For those Aussies craving that townhouse/country house vibe.

  • Where are the blogs? Where are the reading guides? I have dozens of wonderful new blogs saved up ready to go but when? I'm moving in the next couple of months so winks will become reading guides :) and I can stress out over packing and moving and you can chill with lots of lovely blogs. Just a little longer dear readers. But I couldn't wait to share these two. Click on the banners above and enjoy!

The colour purple

There is a problem with this blog. All of this eye candy we feature has the effect of making people change their minds over and over again about what sort things they like in a space. I for one am not a big fan of pastels, particularly purple/lavendar. Then I go and find this gem of a home on Micasa and I now think purple is not that bad. I kind of like it (although the living room rug could be a bit more interesting) - especially with all the grey walls, which has been my favourite wall colour for ages. Maybe you'll change your mind about using pastels when you see the wonderful photos below. (Happy Friday!!)

Martin Gomez Arquitectos

A stone headland rises to meet the sea and sand. Manmade crests waves of pampas grass. In Punta del Este, Uruguay Martin Gomez Arquitectos design beach houses that meet the environment and embrace it. It's modern and it's sexy. It's hot and it's too cool. Thanks to María for sharing these as yet unpublished shots. If you want to see more inspiring houses by the design studio lead by Argentinian architect Martin Gomez then click over to their tumblr ... full of fabulous press tears and work. You'll remember the Tree house from Elle Decoration.
