One Girl Interiors

Suzanne of Melbourne-based design firm One Girl Interiors creates wonderfully warm and inviting spaces with backdrops of white and grey, pastel accents and bits of navy and black to keep things from leaning too much to the feminine side. She loves mixing old and new, high and low, colours that make you smile, and anything quirky or whimsical. I adore this first kitchen for its simplicity and now I'm loving navy a little bit more.

Monday's pets on furniture

If you would like to participate in the Monday's pets on furniture series please send photos, your name, location and a brief description to kim[@]desiretoinspire[.]net. Thanks!

This is our shy Olivia posing on the buffet under a painting I made of her father, a nomad white cat that visited our street and left us with this blue-eyed beauty...
- Ogenia (Israel)

My daughter's cat, Tito loves the yellow chair in my studio.
- Anna (Campbellville, ON)

This is Cooper and Simcoe. Simcoe loves to snuggle on Cooper, and don't let this look of indifference fool you!
- Crystal

This is Monty our Burman on an arthide ottoman, and LouLou a Visler/border collie cross both are 13 years old and much loved members of our family
- Lynette (Tasmania, Australia)

some other pictures of kasimir, who also seems to like very unusual spots... like our washbasin... or the niche above the couch in our living room, playing egyptian cat-god aside our african sculpture of a very thin man... and his favorite summertime spot underneath the garden table, there
he can sleep in the shade
- heike (graz, austria)

And from me - one of Felix's favourite pastimes is driving me nuts while I blog. I got up for another cup of coffee one Saturday morning, turned around and snapped this photo (and I see this was taken before my floors were refinished = !!!!!!!).

Chilean concrete

A stunning location and a stunning building. Almost like paper folds except with concrete. Rugged, box-like, brutal lines broken by walls of glass. A contemporary home on an ancient coast. Casa Ronco by Chilean architectural firm Estudio Valdés.

Stalking Albert Einstein

Someone really, really, really likes Albert Einstein. What I really like are the stairs, that floor level window in the living room and the lap pool that stretches from the front yard to the back under the bridge-like entrance hall. I'm stalking in Brighton in Melbourne. Link here while it lasts.

A cottage in a forest

I spotted this year-round cottage on Décormag yesterday and had to share because this is my dream summer getaway....except it needs to be lake-fronted. And maybe in a warmer climate, like Mexico. ;) This stunner is located in the Eastern Townships of Québec and was designed by Atelier Barda. I am dying over the black stained wood exterior, and the simplicity of the interior is all you need in a second residence. And a must in a dwelling with surroundings this beautiful - those large windows framing scenes of the forest as art. (Photos: Yves Lefebvre)
