Frederic Hooft

We received a very intriguing email the other day from a reader named Adriaan regarding this post Jo published a while ago of photographer Frederik Vercruysse's work. Turns out it featured a couple of photos of the home of interior designer Frederic Hooft. Seems he now resides in an amazing 16th century home located in the city of Ghent (having bought it 15 minutes after seeing it for the first time). It's gorgeous - the vintage modern blend is perfectly juxtaposed against the history of the home. (Source)

Glass house

Dreaming of a glass box overlooking water. Anchored by stone and garden. Filled with mid century treasure and art. White and bright. Restrained and curated but bold in its transparency. Strong and fragile. Dream come true. Fishers Island House by New York architects Thomas Pfifer and Partners.

Maree Homer +1

Three and a half years. Yes three and a half years since I visited Australian photographer Maree Homer's website. (The original post is here.) A lot has certainly happened since the least of which is an overflowing portfolio and her work constantly in Australian shelter magazines. The work has matured. Light is still paramount but now the rooms are havens from the harsh bright light outside. Slashes of light don't cut across spaces. Homes are more appealing because, as most Aussie's will know, being in the cool cocoon of the inside as opposed to the harsh, hot outside is a cultural dreaming. Still an ode to modern Australian life her work captures the spirit of the rooms, the carefree life we love to lead and the slight larrikin attitude that Aussie's have.

Monday's pets on furniture - part 2

If you'd like to send me photos to include in next week's "pets on furniture" post, please ensure your photos follow my basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off...and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it's dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.com and PLEASE don't send closeups of your pet!)

I thought I'd show you our 6 month old lab on our furniture!
- Melaine

Vince, our big black lab, is a retired seeing eye dog - enjoying his new found life of leisure on our fleecy, plush Clifton sofa.
- Laurie (Wellesley, MA)

Attached is a picture of our cat Moo sitting on the back porch at our home in Oakland, CA. My longtime friend and housemate love sitting on our porch in the morning with a cup of coffee and Moo, our scraggly cat that we rescued from the train station.
The second picture is of our Bita (that is just her nickname). Her real name is Lola and she is oh so lovely and white. She perfectly matches our all white and black house. She is sitting on "her" chair - a white, Shabby Chic wicker back chair. She loves to sit here and stare out the window. Unlike Moo, she stays inside because she is far to dainty and delicate to face the cold cold wild.
Two more!

- Jae & Ryane

Here are my three boys, on my favorite vintage orange chair. Early, Fred and Norman can be found snuggled together here all the time.
- Gin (Sacramento, CA)
