Monday's pets on furniture - part 1

If you'd like to send me photos to include in next week's "pets on furniture" post, please ensure your photos follow my basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off...and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it's dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.com and PLEASE don't send closeups of your pet!)

This is Bo, my 7 month old rescue. She was found 2 months ago tied to a fence here in Brooklyn. She had a terrible wound on the back of her neck that has healed well. Her favorite spot is on my Moller 78 chairs. Thank god she does not use them as a scratching post!
Along with Bo i have a wonderful dog called Maddie. She is a 2 year old Goldendoodle who loves relaxing on her favorite chair.

the dining table: desk, renovated by husband, passed down from father-in-law, quite old.
the cat: mulvey, the manx, also quite old (about 16 years). she can get up there all by herself, but needs help on the dismount (her suspension springs aren't what the used to be)

- Patti (Brisbane)

This is Moco Vinny in my cramped (but efficient) studio. She is on top of a trash find and next to a Craigslist free mid century bookshelf-type thingy. Very glamorous.
The pics below are of Farrah Boo in our little sun room.  She is the fat lardy blob on the long couch.
Third pic is also Moco Vinny on the same couch salivating after the birds.

An eye for detail

Dublin based interior designer Gail Morris of Wall Morris Design emailed us with a few photos of the installation of a recently completed 'new-build' residential project in Co. Kerry, Ireland for a client who lives in New York. The design focus was on fine interior joinery, tailored and detailed for the family's needs. I know many of you will be swooning over the custom kitchen but I love the bedrooms tucked up under the roof. A new house just beginning its life with its new family. I can't wait to see it age beautifully as it gathers the layers of family life.

Est

The editors of Australian digital magazine Est sent us a sneak peek at their latest edition. In Issue #4 the magazine looks to the Nordic countries for inspiration in a special Scandinavian edition of Est. Go inside the home of Icelandic Interior Designer Rut Kara and Danish homewares maven Tine K. Get to know modern day model turned street style snapper Candice Lake and see inside the home of the original street style photographer Amy Arbus in New York City. Est Issue #4 launches 31 January and I for one can't wait.

Llamas' valley

I had plans for a post today but due to some totally inconvenient technical difficulties I had to come up with something else. A little while ago we received an email and I thought I'd share it with you today as Plan B. It comes from Alge: I would like to present you our e-magazine "Llamas' valley". Our motto is: perfect places / imperfect people. We write about interior design, decor, art, fashion, food. We started with six Lithuanian issues of the magazine, and we have published the first English edition just before Christmas. Our team consists of 3 members: that would be me, I'm the editor, my husband Eligijus is a designer, and our friend Augis makes the beautiful images. LOVE it. And love that motto. Here are some photos to get you hooked.

Design Crew

Got a problem? Need some help? Just standing there shaking your head? Don't know what to do? You're not alone. Send us a link to photos of your design quandary and let the Desire to Inspire design crew help you .... that's you lot ... the readers! This week's problem comes from Leigh. I know you can come up with some great ideas.

I am stuck with my fab new room, which is an extension on the back of my house, adjoining the kitchen. It has glass doors all along the back looking onto the garden. It is approx 20 x 12 feet in size but I do not know how to arrange it, or where to start. I have new oak floor, plan on a wood burner eventually, have white blinds on the windows, walls are creamy white. I have 2 arm chairs which I can recover, a leather sofa, and aim to buy another sofa, plus some other furniture. But what? Help!
