Bieke Claessens

Less is more. No nonsense. Straight up. Restrained. Tightly curated. Minimalist and modern. Clever insight. No need to embellish. As it is. Unencumbered. True and simple. Beautiful but spartan. I'm not just talking about Belgian design. I'm talking about Belgian photographer Bieke Claessens' portfolio.

Steve you're a little late to the argument. We have discussed this a number of times over the past few years. On Desire to Inspire we do the gushing and fluffing to the person on whose site the images were found. Yes the rooms are fabulous because of the original designs and the people involved in their creation. However because we found the photos on, in this case, the photographer's site then it is the photographer who gets the tiara, sash and flowers for this post. If we had found these rooms via a designer's site then we would be air kissing them instead. Those who read this blog and all the comments on regular basis know that's the way we roll ;)

I'm not Steve, but some constructive feedback: I'd love a bit deeper annotations, even calling out some aspects that you don't like or think don't work. I agree the M.O. so far has been to gush and fluff consistently, but basically every design blog showers praise on every single post. Usually it's not much more than boilerplate (everywhere, not just here).

I'd definitely prefer fewer posts and images in return for a little more time per post, like running through what you like and dislike. Even a tiny bit of analysis would make desiretoinspire stand out.

I think it’s great when designer can come out of the comfort zone. The white floor adds calm and space to the room, again white walls add height to the room. Overall I think this is excellent.
