Too much?
Thu, 24 Feb 2011I am a huge fan of industrial touches in a home....but sometimes people should quit while they're ahead. I found this apartment on a site from Israel called bvd, and while I love some of the finishes, all in all it's pretty much a prison cell, but a bit larger. I'm sure there are some men out there who are saying "WOW - that's COOL!!" but I'm sure that sentiment would be short-lived after living here for a while. Your thoughts?

I think it could be great starting point, but i would need more color in curtains, pillows, etc.
Prison cell, submarine quarters, ship's hull...I love industrial touches, but this? No thanks!
I love industrial touches (idealy my home would be a mix of industrial and rustic) but this is overkill. There really doesn't seem to be anywhere comfy. And those square "chairs" (if you even want to call them that) seem like a form of torture.
It's depressing!
Umm yeah, not for me either. I don't sway as far over to the other side as shabby chic overstuffed and all white, but this is just too dreary, depressing, cold and hard for me...even without trying to imagine my dog and baby in there, or my husband trying to get comfy to read a book or surf car web sites on his laptop. But that's the beauty of decorating and design - the person who lives here, and a whole bunch of others, probably think this is totally the best place ever...and good on ya!
a bit too much for me. i like some aspects, but it's too over-done i think...
I agree, the space is completly deviod of any warmth or personal touch, its definetly an example industrial overkill.
All I can think of when I look at those images is: "What a lot of places to get my tongue stuck to!"
That aside, I like it!
These chairs look so unconfortable. But I love the kitchen and the stereo stand. And the bathroom is very interesting.
I think if the kitchen and bathroom weren't so full of sheet metal and metal grids, it could be doable - with a lot of art and soft rugs and throws added. Think how great a piece of art framed in baroque gold would set off the living room!
I'd be afraid to drop the soap in that shower!

Oh yes I can see some men loving this, but I would die in that kitchen.

its cool, but it almost feels like a gym locker room, its missing that coziness that (i think) kitchens require... if the kitchen is the heart of the home, this one feels a tad cold (to me)....
I agree, way too much. It's weird there are casters on so many of the tables. It looks like the underground fortress I longed for when I was a kid.
That couch (wall?) looks hideously uncomfortable...
The bedroom is depressing. I'd have to kill myself if I was obliged to wake up there.

It is a bit monastic, but I wouldn't say prison cell. Prison's wouldn't allow all those sharp edges and angles!
Wow, I love most (if not all) of the elements - just not all together. Brrrrrr. Too hard and cold for me in that huge dose! Too bad.

SO cold! And I'm guessing there are no kids EVER in the future of that home. Some of the colors are very pretty. But homey? never! How fun would it be to add some warmth and "love" to that space though? sigh...
P.S. my guess is that they eat out!
I am not sure I would be able to bring myself to shower in the steel bathroom!
it's too much for me. Not that I don't like the industrial look because I do. I just don't like too strict adherence to one style, be it minimalism or upcycled eclectic. I don't think this space needs 'the warm touch' but adding some recycled wood or plastic would have done wonders. I love some of the pieces, Iwouldn't mind having some of them in my house but not all of them and not at the same time.
