An apartment renaissance in Singapore

Desire to Inspire covers all corners of the world from the UK to the Seychelles and Alaska to New Zealand. Homes in the USA, Australia, Norway and today Singapore. As any of you who have travelled to this small nation in Asia will know, many of the population live in highrise apartments. Row after row of them.  Stanley Tham and Kusnin Tan are KNQ Associates and their specialty is what they call Home Rejuvenation, transforming Singapore's cookie cutter apartments into something special. We've featured their work before but Stan sent over one of their latest projects. Based on their client's love of all things Renaissance, KNQ has taken a modern twist on the sumptuousness of that time. My favourite? The dark and brooding dressing room. Imagine being able to indulge your fashion fetish in your spare room! Lots of befores and afters after the jump. And for the full story go to their blog Home Rejuvenation.

(P.S. Home Rejuvenation are once again running their 10 Most Influential Design Bloggers poll. Just by nominating you are in the running for one of three Wallpaper* subscriptions. More info here. )

No I'm starting in the wrong spot. Let's go back to the beginning. The entry then the living spaces, the guest bedroom come music room and finally the master bedroom.

Hi, my name is Magdeline and I am from Singapore. Thanks for sharing this post, or I would never have known that such tasteful houses still do exist here.(:

Great work from the East!

A bit tacky and OTT for my taste.

Kim, renaissance is OTT in the first place. I never understand the excess in that era.

While it may be excessive for some, the design work is extremely high -- that's a very experienced and clever designer. Very solid on the use of scale and excellent details on making the space look larger. Thanks for sharing!

I agree with Kelly - it takes experience and a good understanding of details to get everything right here, especially when we are talking in the context of Asia and not Europe itself.

i really like the bedroom/music room and the closet. but i'd probably lessen the paintings and statues. i can use this as inspiration.

This looks like an overdone Vegas hotel room, and not in a good way

Wow I'm pretty sure this is the apartment my mom bought to invest in! Haha awesome :)

What an amazing use of space and details, especially the partition+shoerack+display stand. Bravo!

I love the walk-in wardrobe the most. It looks like one entered a dark, underground medieval castle.
