A glimpse of paradise

We've had terribly cold weather here in Ottawa for the last few days so I think it's time to take a little trip. I'm thinking about a riad in the Medina of Marrakech. Problem is if I ever visited this home I'd without a doubt NEVER leave. Every detail is simply stunning. This is what paradise looks like in my dreams.

This space uses concrete in kitchen, bathroom, living room, and bedroom! You would think so much concrete would look over done - but on the contrary, it just fits everywhere (check out this post via)

We are on the same day dream today, for sure. It's rainy here in Salt Lake City town today and I'm dreaming of a sunny cortile (=courtyard in Italiano). I just posted a few images on my blog and opened up your post today on "paradise"---same head game, no doubt. ;o) Have a lovely day and thanks for keeping me dreaming. ~Sparky

Love the contrast between the buffed concrete walls and bath tub and the ethnic details. This is one amazing place!!

Oh - it has been so chilly here in London (and Toronto)...when is the sun going to grace us with her presence? I like what you have in mind for paradise...I could see myself there too!

omg, the colors are so perfect. The third picture perfectly depicts how I want my future home to look like

Love these concrete built-ins. Had them in Manila and it was so easy and cool. This entire home is so simple, elegant and perfect. I want it.

I love the house. But honestly, the pictures aren't very high quality. The framing leaves much to be desired, and it's the rare photo that is improved by futzing with the depth of field. If you don't want something in the shot, leave it out! is my feeling. The finishes of the house surfaces is exquisite.

oregonbird I've got to totally disagree with you on the photography. I thought the photos were stunning, which is why I kept them extra large when I uploaded them in the post. To each his/her own. :)

Such a beautiful place. Please take me there.

Beautiful pictures! I'm surprised to see all black and white in Marrakech. It's all about colors there and crazy tile combinations. It must have taken a very disciplined person to do only b/w.
I know I couldn't do it!
Thanks for the always thought-provoking posts.

Really beautiful!
I love the style.

This is so beautiful. I wish I had stayed in a riad when I visited Marrakech a couple years ago.

This is too good. My dream, too.

My husband and I went to Marrakech for our honeymoon in 2005. We stayed at Riad Tiwaline (since closed) in the medina. AMAZING! Great, quiet service, welcoming people, new exciting culture (for us anyway). No other trip since has compared. I love living in Brooklyn, but my dream is to live in a riad with the gorgeous courtyard, tadalakt walls, tiny door in the wall, breakfast on the roof every morning. Go! Go! Go!

This is a classic example of why I really, really love Moroccan influence. Sigh. Must see more...
