A handmade home

Every once in a while I see a home featured on a website that makes me sit back and sigh in delight. This is one of those homes. My twin sister sent me the link to this home which I think is in Finland (since the site is) and is the home of a family of 5 where the mother creates beautiful knit objects and the father is a carpenter. I absolutely adore the rustic, natural, neutral and handmade vibe of this home. I think I'm going to save just about all of these photos in my inspiration folder. (More, including the gorgeous kitchen, after the jump).

the magazine is finnish, but i think the house in holland or belgium. the notes on the blackboard at least are in dutch and houses like this are (i am looking at the garden) are quite uncommon in finland, but that's just my thought!

Wow what a heavenly cozy home! Is everything homemade? The problem with that would be that I can't go purchase any of these charming pieces!

I am usually so attracted to color, but all of the knitting creates such depth and warmth that the home doesn't need color. I love to knit as well, but so far have only created 2 scarfs and one only a mother could love...I can't believe she actually wears it!

The bed is absolutely fantastic...simple, but family-like. I love the way she embrases cosiness with cold details, like the black wall in the kitchen with the knifes well exposed...it`s all about bringind warm and cold together in the same time, but in her own special extravagant way
