Sense of space, sense of place

There is a lot to like in the work of Texas architectural firm Lake/Flato. A lot to admire. Buildings rest easy on the ground respecting their environment. These buildings are authentic. A series of pavilions or spaces with wide overhangs, shade loving, warmth hugging, real. They remind me a lot of what is being done with architecture here in Australia. Addressing the climate and the site while providing holistic design solutions for the clients. Honest buildings. Beautiful buildings.

The Lake/Flato team is a Texas jewel. I have stayed in several homes that they have designed over the years and each one is unique.

These are beautiful designs. They would fit well into a South African context too!

Wow, what stunning houses! It's always been my dream to have a converted stone barn with huge conservatory added and glass everywhere :)

Esse é o espaço de arquitetura e decoração que eu mais aprecio e visito várias vezes ao dia. É um prazer transitar por ele, vendo e revendo imagens que mostram a boa forma de viver.

Parabés!!!

Absolutely gorgeous. Sigh...would love this space!

Lake/Flato has designed the new campus for Sunshine Cottage School for Deaf Children, and it's going to be beautiful! The architects were fantastic to work with,a and designed a space not only beautiful, but acoustically sound and perfect for our unique student population.
