Flickr finds - sewing corner

This post was the result of this email from Mel: "I have recently purchased a sewing machine to get back into that whole game and am looking for inspiration on how to set up a little designated sewing space. I live in inner-city Sydney so space is not my friend, however for the time being I can carve out a little space in a spare/studio/play room before baby number three arrives in December."

I sway, this is so wonderful. I will send you some photos of my room.

I stay in India and you will find my mom's old sewing machine, my books and the table fan and what not. The small temple with incense sticks spreading the fragrance.

I am sure you will love it. Will send you in some days, cause my camera is missing, huh.

As someone who sewed in a professional shop, I don't understand why so many of these photos don't have enough table space on the left side of the machine to rest fabric on. It would make things a hell of a lot more difficult!

I can say from experience, though, that card catalogue drawers are dead useful for sewing.

Where did you find so many sewing niche pics? Some of them are absolutely adorable!

Hey!! Thanks for including the pic of my little unassuming sewing corner! I'm a regular reader and was surprised and delighted to see my name and photo in this post.

Kim, where can I find that orangey stripe bedspread?

Og my gosh -they are great! But how do you sew with a machine table against the wall? I would love to know because it would make the use of space for mine so much smaller but I need to pass large pieces of goods across the table to continue the seams... huh...

I've always wanted a sewing room. Thanks for sharing these pictures, I'm not inspired to turn the spare bedroom into a sewing haven. I have to agree with Tasha, though. I wonder how they've done their cutting/pinning. I suppose the floor is always handy.

I don't sew (it's on my life list of things to learn) but I am ga-ga for those library card catalogs. I want one SO BAD. I work in a library, too, so they frequently see me stalking the "discards" room for one.
