My mug in a mag
Some of our readers have noticed that we were mentionned in this month's Canadian House & Home magazine. They did a story called Our Favourite Canadian Design Blogs and since this blog is half Canadian they wanted to include the blog and me! It is such an honour. I have subscribed to H&H for years and it is by far one of my favourite mags.

An AMAZING local photographer, Jordan Craig, came by one morning and photographed me in my home office and took some photos of vignettes around the house (which to my dismay none were used). To my relief he brought along his wife who applied my makeup (and I took note!). It was a total blast, Jordan and his wife were awesome, and he brought along the coolest camera I've ever seen (a Hasselblad from the 60s with an attachment where the film would go to make it digital). I asked my boyfriend to help me take photos of the process and both of us forgot for the most part. Here are a few we did manage to take.
Jordan was kind enough to send me the photos he took around my office and living room. They are fantastic so I thought I would share them.
Congratulations to the other bloggers included (Jan of poppytalk, Marie-Eve of Lake Jane and Arren of Arren Williams Design Lab, and thank you Jordan and House & Home!!
UPDATE: Check out the story on H&H's website HERE

Ditto to all of the above...your collections and your esthetic are really fabulous.

Hi
Congratulations for the magazine thing and you have a nice place too.
Keep blogging. I always check your blog every single day. Hehehe
Kim,
I found you on Flickr also and had no idea that you were so well known! I found you just a week before the kitchen project and was blown away by what you did. Do you design for a living or do you have a regular job also? Congrats on being in the magazine....you really are talented.
Congratulations Kim! Wow, imagine being featured in one of your favorite shelter magazines! I'll have to pick up a copy. Love the vignettes of your home. I adore the yellow picture frame with the green lamp (Jo's influence?).
I also dearly love the buddha, beads and bowls. Is that in your office too?
YAY KIm!! I know how hard you worked to pull your house together for this (and then you ripped half of it apart for the kitchen reno). The exciting thing is we have a couple more magazine pieces coming up soon. Ssssh!
Love your place so much!! Love the colors (turquoise and green!!), the forest... ;). Congrats for the mention but you deserve it so much for inspiring people all around the globe, including myself. And also it's great to see photos of the girl behind the blog!
Congratulations on the feature! It's great seeing pics of you and your interior, too. You're very brave and confident with the use of colour. Well done!

Thanks so much everyone for all the comments! You guys are too kind. I'm glad you like the photos from around my home. :) I'll answer the questions that were asked, then I have to go out and shovel snow for about 2 hours (no joke).
Anon - the pillows are vintage Bargello that I got on eBay.
Jennifer, I'm hoping to get a post up tomorrow of more kitchen photos - it's almost done!
Lena, the lamp I got at Found Design (whom I mentionned in the article). It's vintage so maybe check eBay.
Shannon, most of the fabric are from Etsy, eBay, the fabric flea market that was in the Glebe a month or 2 ago...and I'm not sure if the mag is in stores yet - might just be subscribers.
Robin, I have never designed for a living. I am a web developer for the federal gov't. :) It's a hobby.
Peggy, the first 5 photos are from my office.
Thanks again all of you!
What an amazing house! Congrats on the feature.
Kim,
Your home is gorgeous, your eye for color amazing, your sense of humor evident from your delightful tchotskes and warm smile. And I love your hair!
All best to you this holiday season! Desire to Inspire is the BEST!

Great photos - thanks for sharing kim.
One question: your cowprint rug in your living room, where did you get it? I can't tell, but I am hoping it isn't really from an animal {Like you, I *heart* animals so I too have boycotted fur/ponyhide/cowhide/leather etc}. All looks fab in ur funky place! Good Job!!
Thanks Marsha, Meredith and PonyLove! PonyLove the cowhide rug is I think real, and I got in on eBay. I adore animals, always have, and I own that gorgeous cowhide, I eat meat and my car happens to have leather seats. Good for you for boycotting fur/leather etc!
Congratulations! I love the color in your home. You do a good job of putting it together without it looking too busy -- harder than people think! Love the blog.
congratulations! love your home photos and of course, love your blog!
