My newly redone goth/glam bathroom

I am pretty excited to finally have this project finished. My bathroom is the last of the 2.5 bathrooms in this house to be redone. It still needs new flooring but so do the other bathrooms so that's a project for another time. We're not planning on keeping this house for very long so we can't do too much to the house without thinking of resale but I had to go a little nuts somewhere - and it might as well be my bathroom. This cost about $650 - that's for the sink, faucet, knobs, light fixture, paint, accessories, art, molding around art, mirror, shower curtain...etc. I'm curious to hear your comments.

How cool! My favorites are the red sconce and the awesome tree shower curtain. And of course the soap.

Sconce is ugly brown covered in Colonial Red spray paint. Glad you like it and the shower curtain I love too. I love anything with a tree on it. The soap I've had for ages and thought it would be perfect in MY new bathroom - cause I was probably a total bitch while trying to paint those damn stripes. Julia, who's the more creative twin now??!!

Congrats Kim on a job well done. I think the subtle use of the stripes is great.

jhayne, the stripes are indeed the same colour - eggshell and semi-gloss (garden spigot by R.L if anyone wants to know)

Hi Kim- I love your blog, i love your new bathroom. I know what you mean about re-sale and not going nuts. Im doing that with the re-design of my kitchen. Will be saving the good stuff for my future place. Anyhow can u post where you acquired everything you bought for $650..? Especially that addict pic , i love it. And the paint color too! Also what type of camera did you use? pics are beautiful. Would love to post your bathroom on my blog, possible?
i know lots of questions...

Haha, the stripe trick! I used that in my living room and it's my favorite paint treatment so far. I painted stripes of varying widths with some kind of antique white. You can (kind of) see it here, esp. on the wall with "the Collie."

Your bath looks sweet. Vampy and indulged rockstar-chic. Perfect choice with the toile-esque cup & soap dish!

Booh, the link was too long. If you're terribly curious, visit apartmenttherapy (chicago) and search for "house tour Jessica," it'll be the first post listed.

Jessica - I hadn't noticed the stripes before in your living room. Good job! (The link above works).

Jennifer - Thanks! My camera is a few years old and a pretty crappy one, and I don't mind you posting this. Here's where I got everything (mostly local stores): shower curtain, candelabra = Zone
light fixture, faucet, sink, paint, shelf over toilet, molding for frame = Home Depot
paint = garden spigot by R.L., Colonial Red spray paint for light and silver spray paint for molding
accessories on counter, mirror= Homesense
art = from Images on Bank...they had a pamphlet where you can order it from and the only info on it was www.dumontlaroche.com and the company is zilon street, but that link doesn't work.

Congratulations Kim!!! It looks amazing. You are such a talented little thing!!!!!! Love it all especially the colour and the stripes. I know how much those stripes tortured you. I'm just sorry it took me all this time to get to a computer. I wanted to be the first to say how great it is. WELL DONE!!!!

O.M.G. That is AWESOME. Lurv lurv LURV it. The wall color...the sconce...the FAB artwork..the bitch soap...the shower curtain.
Soooo cool.

WOW!
You did such an awesome job on those stripes - they can be tricky! I can't believe this was only $650. That's better than I've seen any television show do on much higher budgets. The red accents are perfect, the tree shower curtain is divine, and the Bitch soap is, well, bitchin'!

This is GREAT!! I recently blogged what I call "tongue-in-cheek cemetery chic" on Design Anxiety. I very very much love what you did. That shower curtain is beautiful (I am also a sucker for trees)and you pulled everything together so well.

That is one scary looking girl in your artwork!

By the way, what is Zone??

23 Mar 2007 | Unregistered CommenterNicole Welch

Oh wow. I just decided to do my bathroom in a similar way. I'm going more for girly goth though. With pink walls and black, white and red accesories. I absolutely love your shower curtain!

Thanks everybody! Nicole - Zone is a home decor store here and there's some in Montreal area. Their (somewhat crappy) website is www.zonemaison.com

23 Mar 2007 | Unregistered Commenterjulia

Is that just a nice way of saying "What the hell has my daughter gone and done to her bathroom???!!!" LOL.
