More living with art
Fri, 9 Feb 2007Another post on living with art. This time it's an eclectic mix and a little bit of sculpture thrown in as well. I have a passion for Papua New Guinea tribal carvings so I love the fifth picture (but perhaps a little too much artist's clutter). The frames are there because they can be art in themselves. And every little girl should have a fuschia pink bedroom and contempory artworks!

So timely. Anna - are you reading this? I will need some serious framing help soon and I hope you guys are here for me! I just love this post - will bookmark it so I can review and review.
Pink - try and buy art/prints in standard sizes (I still need to clarify that - I found out too late that 12x18 isn't) so you don't have to get them custom framed. Will save you a TON of money.
Thanks Phoebe! If you click on the pics they will open bigger (if they were shrunk down when saved on blogger) - careful though, sometimes we forget, like in these ones, to get them to open in a new window. (I'd fix it now but I am at work and blogger crashes here.)
Great photos as usual!
I just thought I'd add that the photo on the top right was taken at the Brooklyn home of artists Elliott Puckette and Hugo Guinness. It was featured in US Vogue 4 years ago. Also, their home was the inspiration behind the interiors created for the film The Royal Tenenbaums.
Oh, and (not trying to be a know it all or anything), but the photo on top left is from the home of Lulu Guinness in London. I saved both of these editorials in a scrapbook I made a while back!
Thanks for all the info alexandrina - this blog would be sooooo long if we posted the stories behind each pic. It's great to have the info in the comments in case anyone's looking for details. (I'd love to get my hands on your scrapbook!) ;)
Phoebe you caught me out. I uploaded these photos from my flikr account instead of searching for the original scans for both these posts. Kim and I have so many photos now that archiving them on hard drive is falling behind.I'm off to a country wedding this weekend but I'll try to swap the photos for larger ones when I get back.
And Alexandrina keep coming up with the provenance of the photos. It's the sort of info we all want :)
Thank you, thank you. I've been looking for the image with the amazing black and white botanicals for weeks now. I've rifled through every pile in my house and could not find it for the life of me. And there it is. Wild.
Do you know who did the artwork in the picture? I love the images so much but can't find out who did them because I can't find the picture...blah, blah.

Birdie, as Alexandrine said it's the home of artists Elliott Puckette and her husband Hugo Guinness. And the botanicals..... they're by Hugo himself. There are some here. Ooops out of stock.
