Back to house stuff

Enough about the wedding - let's get back to house stuff and other randomness. In the last little while I have acquired some pretty kitchen items such as footed trays and a beautiful bowl that I didn't really have anywhere to display. The only open shelving in my kitchen (and I don't have a dining room) was the one steel shelf over a section of my cabinets.
I luuuurve open shelving and being able to display kitchenware out in the open. On the weekend I finally decided to do something about it (for the meantime - I'm hoping with our house renos/additions to turn the current living room into a dining room, which means I will have plenty of space for showcasing my growing collection). I had 3 of the steel Ikea shelves from my old house but when I renovated the kitchen, I thought I wanted to keep it a bit sparse so I only installed one. Now I have all 3 shelves installed and it's fulfilled my burning desire to display more of my crap. Of course, I'll be fussing with the items on those shelves about a zillion times but whatever keeps me amused....

Love the shelves...I had a chuckle when you wrote you wanted to keep it a bit sparse...I say this all the time, cheers Katherine
Love the creams and whites and browns!
it's so cool :) love it kim :) and congrats!!!!!
Love, love the shelves, especially above the stained wood cabinet. The contrast of these two contrasting finishes really works and makes a statement.
My nose is touching the screen trying to figure out what the subject is in your framed art -before the extra shelves were added. Is it cat soup?
That is cat soup. :) It's a photo taken by my Flickr friend Maura (http://www.flickr.com/photos/mpaoletti/). That is her cat Dom Fuas Roupinho - her gorgeous British Shorthair.
Those shelves are great. I also love open shelving in the kitchen. If only mine could stay as neat as yours!
"Back to house stuff. Enough about the wedding . . ." I love your house stuff, but was hoping to see some wedding photos. Maybe you have these in a less public space? Which dress did you choose? The ring is lovely; the setting beautiful; but I want more . . . can we have a bit more, please?

Helen, I am hoping to see some wedding photos soon too. I haven't got them back from the photographer yet. When I get them I'll certainly share them on here and on Flickr. Page 2 of my tab shows my dress and accessories.
I love those bottled spices in a row!=) I have like those at home, but they are pastas=)
Love how the U.S. is embracing the idea of the European open shelf. It adds space, airiness and color to a kitchen. I am probably going to be taking some of my cabinet doors off and displaying pretty wares here pretty soon as well! Thanks for sharing!
