The fun part of wedding planning
I never wear dresses. I never really go anywhere where a dress would be appropriate, and well, this is the arctic and I'm always cold so I tend to stay away from them. Despite the fact that the only dresses I own are ones I bought to wear at weddings. But now that I'm having my own wedding, I'm really excited to find the perfect dress. I've been devouring Etsy all week looking at potential wedding dresses and have found 4 that I really like. I want something not too fussy and on the short side since it will be a very casual affair and we'll be standing around in grass the whole time. Let me know what you think!

Okay, I'm crazy about the Upoppy dress because I can totally see you in something like that, interesting and unique. The minute I saw that dress I said (in my head) she has got to get that one! That said, I also agree with everyone that it's a risk to buy such a fitted dress without trying it on. But of course if you ordered it way ahead of schedule (like double the time to make it) then there would be time for a redo if the first try didn't fit.
Update: I just went and checked out her site, I like how she will take you through the steps to get the exact measurements that she will need for the dress. She has multiple good ratings for other dresses she's made and you could contact those brides through email to get the real dirt on working with her and perhaps they would be willing to send you pictures of their dresses worn. So, I think there is a way of ensuring a great job. So, go for it!!!
I still love that dress.....but I ended up finding one yesterday. Jeff and I got off work early and we went to the shopping mall downtown to look for a wedding band for him, and we went to a few stores to see if there was anything suitable for a wedding dress. On our walk home, we stopped at Holt Renfrew, a very high-end department store. I figured all the formal dresses they had would be WAAAAAAY out of my price range. But they were all under $500. I tried on about 6, and one of them was SO FREAKING GORGEOUS that I ended up buying it. It was $438. And it, like the Upoppy dress, is SO ME. I'm tempted to post a photo since Jeff has already seen it.....
Post, post, post!!! You don't have to show it on you though, just let us see the dress.
I'll think about it. :)
Well?
Isaspacey - I knew you'd be wondering where that photo is. I've been so busy I haven't had a chance. I'll see what I can do this weekend, although I need to help husband-to-be move the rest of his crap in my house....
