Taking advantage of a clean house...

It's really hard to keep a clean house with 7 cats, and a man now living here with me. (LOL - Love ya Jeff!) So when it's clean and styled for a photo shoot, you know I gotta whip out the D80. So here are the results of my hard work and anal-retentiveness.

your place looks fantastic! i'm especially in love with that living room corner/safari chair/pillow/ottoman/sheepskin thing you've got going on. i'd be there all winter with a mug of hot spiced wine.
Your place looks amazing! I love the colorful textiles in each room and your kitchen/dining room, WOOW!!
I love your place!! Just saved the photos to my 'inspiration' folder on my laptop!!
I'm in love.
LOVE the gigantic cat food/water goblets...
and the rest of the place too of course. My favourite kitchen in the whole world...
xo

{ps. Could you tell me the square footage of your place? 7 cats...I'd like to introduce more furries into my space. :) }
your place is my most favorite anywhere that i've seen. so amazing !!!
Thanks everyone!
CrowNology, my home is 926 sq. ft. Which my husband and I have come to discover is FAR too small for the 2 of us, all our stuff, and 7 cats. That is why we're planning to expand the home in the spring. So beware if you're thinking of adding more furry beasts to your clan....
where did you find the wonderful wool blanket in the bed?
I LOVE your place. Really really beautiful and interesting. You must love enjoying your space. Congrats!
The wool blanket I found at an antique shop in Prince Edward Island over the summer when we were there visiting my inlaws. I think I paid $65 and it appeared to have never been used.
Love your home---every little detail!! The colorful blankets bring in so much color and that picture wall that allows the TV to disappear is brilliant!
I love your house, Kim! I especially love the shot with the door and part of that nook to the right. What do you use that nook space for?
And PS- I recently read a post about somebody who has a 700 something sq ft house with a husband, 2 kids and pets. WOAH. props to them, but I'd go effing INSANE.
Thanks GB and Erin!
Erin, the "nook" to the right is actually a hatch to go down to the basement. There was originally a solid wall and a regular door to go to the basement but it took up alot of precious kitchen space (and with this house being 12' wide any walls taking up unnecessary space are annoying) so we had the wall cut and a door made in the floor. Now I have a cardboard cat cabin tucked in there when the door is closed for the kitties to use.
My problem is I'm not willing to live with minimal crap. If I was willing I may be able to handle the square footage I have. But my husband and I need stuff, and the cats need stuff to climb on/sleep on etc, and I like having a basement filled with all my extra crap. :)
Your place is wonderful... I especially love your dining table! Would you be able to share where you got it?
Perhaps I should have changed around the order of the numbers in the bedroom. This ain't no stoner house. :P
Thanks Jenny! The dining table is actually a desk I bought at an amazing store here in Ottawa called Stacaro. This is a link to the desk turned dining table.
Ha! I wondered about the 4:20 too. Your house looks amazing and you've disguised your husband's, ahem, stuff very well!
So many great pieces. Love the shelf with shelf written on it. So quirky.
What a great home. I love seeing a mix of modern design and organic and ethnic prints and objects used together in such a lovely well thought out manner. I have recently acquired some very modern amazingly affordable large scale pieces online from www.lafurniturestore.com and was unsure how to incorporate them with my exsisting heirlooms from italy mexico and japan. This post serves as a tremendouse source of inspiration for me getting that balance right. Thank you!
Hi Kim,
Your home is beautiful! I must say that your kitchen took my breath away~i haven't seen anything quite like it.
Absolutely brilliant in every way. love all the mix of styles and how it works so well.
You have amazing taste.
I absolutely love your little forest, that you have going on! Would you mind sharing, where I could find one that is similar?
:) Thanks folks!
Milah, the forest is a wallpaper mural from designyourwall.com
Wow! I am especially in love with your kitchen! What a great space.
Hi Kim -- I recently moved to Centretown from Boston. Would love to hear about your favorite places for house stuff -- I found the White Monkey and the antique stores in Old Ottawa South, but surely there is more???? I hope I hope. Yes, it's freezing!
Lisa
Thanks Kimma!
Hey Lisa! Welcome to hell! (Kidding - kinda feels like it in the winter though). We're pratically neighbours! (I'm in West Centretown). Since I get asked fairly often what my fav local stores are I think I'll try and put up a little post here on my page some time this week with a list. But I must warn you, it will be a short list. This is Ottawa after all, and we're not known for having great shops. I do alot of shopping online. (It's so bad an Urban Outfitters FINALLY opened here in October and it DOES NOT SELL HOME DECOR ITEMS!! WHAT THE %$#@!!!!)
Kim, your place looks fantastic! I love the vignette with all of the spray painted black vases, and so much more. I love the more minimal look of your bedroom (even though I also loved its previous look). Interesting things to look at all around!
