Living room
Early morning light just before my visitors, Anita from Fun and VJs and Katherine from The Old Boathouse, arrived a few days ago. Nothing too precious (I have a blind husband and a big fat guide dog remember), everything thrifted, eBay or secondhand store except my splurge on a beni ouarain, my PNG totem, some lack shelves on the wall and the cane stools we had made in Bali. Still need curtains and a pendant light but it is slow and steady at the new old house. Everything will come in time. This is the room's winter incarnation. The focus was around the firplace. I can feel a change coming on for summer.

Very nice!~ Is that a big doggy bed by the fire? Well done, pooch!
Why do you think the previous owners tiled throughout?
Have you told the story ofhow you and your hubby met on the blog (yet)? I love the how did you meet tales!
Your house is a true treasure. Beautifully rendered.
Keep up with the good work. I REALLY love the shots of your house.
Thanks Jenny, Lin and WyGal. It is slow and steady but I'm getting there. Jenny that is a low, chinese footed daybed that I need to upholster in one of those ikats. It's my hubby's TV viewing bed not the doggy's although I think Mickey would steal it if he could. The story of how Kelvin and I met will have to wait for another day but it involves a long taxi queue.
Really like that chair it look like a hand! You have some beautifull pieces in your home.
this looks AMAZING... end of! ;)
Love the dark walls with the rich wood fireplace and doors. What kind of wood are the doors, do you know? Just gorgeous the way you've put it all together.
Thanks Angela, Sue and Lisa. All the wood in the house (doors, architraves, windows, stairs, fireplace etc) is cedar. One of the joys of owning a house from the 1860s Lisa.
I'm having trouble leaving comments...I think it thinks I'm spam...I gave u the other day but wanted to drop back in and say...I too would like to know the story of how you pair of love birds met he he I love your house too much!!! You are amazing!!!! Xxxxx
Oh my so gorgeous! Definitely worthy to be shown on your main site. I love the mood and the paint color.
Thanks Lisa. One day I'll put it on the main page ... when it's done. At this rate it will be some time though. Snail's pace is the speed at the new old house :)
Your place is beautiful! I love Katherine (Old Boathouse) she finds the neatest things all the time. I wished that I live closer.
Thanks Tonia. I agree. Katherine finds the best treasures. Thank goodness I don't live so close now or my house would be overflowing with too much wonderful stuff. Oh hang on .... it already is :P
Hi, I love your hand chair and would love to get one for my own place. Where did you find yours?
I'm not sure where you are based Sharon but I bought the chair from a House and Garden franchise in Brisbane. It is from Bali and originally was a bright orange mahogany colour in high gloss varnish. I stuck it outside in the garden until all that nonsense wore off and it turned nice and gray/brown.
