Black and white

I have a small wall space as the stairs turn, a space that needed something. The old front door (that we never use ... the door is too heavy) opens back onto it  and it is actually double height as the top landing has a strange balcony effect. Today I finally hung this set of 1920's hand painted silhouettes on glass. They fill the forgotten little space nicely and I like the contrast between the b&w 20's illustrations and the colourful 70's West German floor vase.

Those are absolutely gorgeous! Black and white is so classic, and yet so eye catching. You could not have picked a better combination of pictures to hang in that small space. My only hope is that the door does not block them too much so they go unnoticed. Did you paint those yourself or did you find them somewhere? Those pictures are beautiful!

We hardly ever open that door which is lucky. The paintings were down by someone with the initials DK and are from the 1920's. I found them i8n my favourite antiques/secondhand shop The Vintage Advantage here in Ipswich.

What one needs right now, while viewing this ensemble, is some Jazz version of the late King of Pop's song Black and White. Get the picture? Fits to a tee.
