The entry hall or the "weird space" as we call it
I need a rug (overdyed vintage turkish would be cool). I need a lamp or a hanging light. I can't make up my mind what to hang on one wall. My 1940s Red Cross cupboard is too tall and cuts off half the window. I need to paint those drums and arrange something on top. I think I want the green egg chair in there not that Grant Featherston one (original 1950s vinyl .. I dare not recover it) but Kelvin has dibs on the egg chair in his indigo blue office. Bugger. Want to change out the bookcase already. Phew! At least the "wallpaper" is done :)
It used to look like this when we first inspected the house.

I love all the updates you've been showing on your page. As much as I enjoy DTI, I like checking out your personal pages best.
The weird space looks awesome!! I love the pages on the wall--I really wish I could see it in real life! Do the photos do a good job showing what you see?
DON'T PAINT THE DRUMS!!
I am so loving your home!
Hallie.
Thanks Hallie :) The pages lot so much better in real life but a I have to say to anyone considering them that if you are looking for a smooth perfect finish they will drive you crazy. Even though I was very careful there are lots of crinkles and bubbles. That's just part of the process I guess. It isn't wallpaper after all and I'm no professional.
I hate photographing my place because I'm not very good at it and I don't have the right lens (or the money to buy them). The photos I think don't do the place justice but then again you only get to see the areas I point the camera at, not the mess in the corner or the chunk of paint scrapped off the wall accidentally :)
I probably won't paint the drums. I want lovely old marching band type ones and I know these will never look like those even if I do. The real reason these won't get painted is because I'm too lazy to do it properly ;)
Dibs on those wicked green glasses!
LOVE IT!!!!!!!!
I haven't even taken photos of all my coloured art glass Lin. Really must so you can put dibs on those too :)
Thanks Kim ... guess what? I'm already changing things. Have dragged the green egg chair in ...
It looks really cool Jo. That wallpaper looks amazing and is so much better than the wallpaper border. Love how you styled your bookcase too. xx
I love that red painting with the man's face in it. Can you tell me the artist's name?
Thanks!
I absolutely love your corner. I think the wall paper made from the leaves of a book is a brilliant idea and the old cupboard is amazing!! I love it!!
Thanks Anita and María :)
Regina the painting is one of mine.
No need of art glass but I must have those specs!
What an adorable and amazing space! Wow, you did a fabulous job on the wallcovering and that is the most interesting wall treatment I've seen in a while. All of the things you mentioned you want to do would be great, but I love your existing chair there. Keeps it a bit serene but funky at the same time. Lovely!
Now I'm really confused Lin because there are no specs in the photos :)
Thanks Kelly. I do love my chair so maybe it will stay in there for a while.
I can't get over how bright it is. Is the front door open? I love how you hav the doors open on the cupboard it is a bugger that it is a little tall cause the look is great! We are off to dr sharkey next week....made me think of the k man.
Was that a one-time painting, or do you do many paintings in that style of the red one I love?
I took the photo very early in the morning when the sun streams into the living room and through to the hallway Katherine. I might balance some artwork up on the cupboard to hide the top of the window. It doesn't really contribute any light to the space.
It was a one-off painting Regina. I was just playing around with screen printing on this piece of laminate I found.
Jo,
I accidentally commented on the specs in the wrong post. They're in your previous post. Sorry about that.
What an improvement! The featherstone chair!! How about painting the tiles? I'm sure I've seen on a blog, someones terra cotta tiles treated with a dark shellac and it looked beautiful.
