My office

Just a little sneak peek into where I blog today. I'm so lucky to have a very large room with lovely old windows, french doors to a verandah and a fire place. Spoilt aren't I? It's presently set up as three areas. My desk where I blog, a space to paint and a sitting area. I love the light in the morning and the cool breezes in the afternoon. As always it is yet another work in progress! Must work on those shelves. That's half the fun of taking photos. It helps you focus in on areas that need work.

My husband and I found these framed 50s book covers in our favourite store The Vintage Advantage today. They'll be perfect in the room and I love the saturated colours and the melodramatic artwork. I just turned round now and took this shot of my architect plan drawers to show you the late afternoon light. I've been working on some ideas for a large painting for over the mantle. If I could only find the time to work some more on it! Must go now. I have to start thinking about what to cook for dinner. Bye!

Such a wonderful room Jo. Every time I look at the photos I notice something I missed the time before. The new art is great but I am surprised you don't want to pull it apart and do something extra special with them like you have done with the 80's romance books. By the way, how on earth did you get Flicka on top of the cupboard, from memory those rides weigh a tone ? cheers Katherine

Jo! I LOVE it. What a wonderful colourful sunny space to work in. Clever you!

Me, I love that rug.

Jo - so jealous! What a great room with so much character and style. Now I know why your entries are always inspirational and fun - you are posting from a great space! Especially love the white chairs and the orange cabinet.

I like a desk that faces a window and the view to the veranda looks lovely. Does your office face the east, then with the morning sun? The light looks fabulous for a creative space.

I really admire the atmosphere, personality and comfort you've brought to a workspace that is so highly functional!

Hi everyone and thanks ... again. It appears that a whole lot of comments have somehow disappeared from the blog since I was last on it about 6 hours ago. No idea what happened. Either Squarespace has gone weird on us or Kim has been tinkering back of house again. Anyways thanks again for your lovely but now missing comments and I'll say again for those who asked that the rug was bought almost 20 years ago at a market here in Brisbane from a Turkisk rug seller.

Love your selections. Inspirational especially the rug !! I love the old dresser painted orange . Thanks Loren

Thanks Ulrika and Loren. I do love working at my desk. I found it in a thrift store covered with old linoleum. Ripped it off, sanded, waxed and it was done. The orange dresser was an eBay score.

And I must apologise for my typo. The rug was from a "Turkish" seller :)

As someone with a huge orange wall in his space, I can appreciate you embracing that color! Cool space! What is that orange painting with the "Buddy Holly"-esque guy on the floor in front of the window?

I really, really want a rug like this... I am trying to find one tonight. It's perfect for our living room. Such old-world, yet fresh style, you have. I love it!!!
