The ones that got away

Sometimes eBay can be a bitch. It leads you on, promises so much then disappoints you bitterly. I love these chairs. I'd pay a small fortune for them but my idea of a small fortune is obviously in a much different league to the small fortune bidder v***n paid. Oh why eBay? Oh why did you show me these beauties and toy with my heart? I'm saving the pictures here and sending my spies out to find me some more. If one pair could be found in Brisbane then there must be more.

I can't believe that price. I can't believe that price. That is out of control.

Do you think that taste could derive from memory? When I was little there was a tiny little store on the beach front in my tiny hometown of Rockingham, about an hour south of Perth, called Tropicana. They only stocked cane and wicker furniture and 'tropical' decor. I was obsessed, even at about seven years old. I used to go in there and spend my pocket money on little wooden parrots or wicker baskets. I'm pretty sure my love of cane and bamboo started there. It wasn't until I started reading this blog that all these memories came back.

I too am cane obsessed. I'm sure it's a childhood beach holiday memory imprinted year after year. Holidays, summer, fun, cane furniture in the holiday rental. The good times are always cane!

Wow. They did go for a small fortune - but they are in great condition! People are getting too savvy about the retro stuff. You'll find a pair which will be cheaper if that is any consolation, especially now that you have spies on your side.
