Jumping the queue ... my messy office

Think of this as a before. Not unpacked. The right furniture isn't in. Latest box from Kim with fabulous Mexican tin and textiles as well as retro fabric and all sorts of thrifted goodness is piled on my desk. (Thanks buddy I love all of it!) I can't go any further with the set up because THE PAINTERS ARE STARTING MONDAY!!!!!! Everything white. Brilliant white. Except the floors. It has taken 150 years for them to get that wonderful beaten up patina so they are staying just as they are. Not sure about that kilim there. I have several others so I'll wait till it's painted and the furniture is in. Think mid century and recycled furniture and found objects, lots of art and natural timber touches. My desk is an old wooden trestle table with loads of character (read as dings and dents). Hopefully this will be the first room completed ... or almost completed because I plan to change my mind ALL the time. The soft toy dolphin is not an accessory. It's a Mickey toy. And I really should have moved the duster. Oh well it is a before!

oh this is great. seriously, it is making me want to modern up an old home so desperately. I would do the floors white too, because I've been dreaming of doing that, but it seems a shame to loose the patina.

its going to be amazing. can't wait.

Thanks Morgan. I'm so excited to be starting. Just wish I lived near you so I could take some of your cast-offs off your hands. You have some stuff that would rock this house!

I had totally forgotten about that little chap in the corner.... he is so cute. Funny I know there is bits everywhere but somehow it already feels like you. The fireplace is amazing. xx Katherine

Katherine you will be noticing a lot of your stuff as I finally settle in. When are we going to organise the coffee get together at my place? :) I'm guessing in the new year after my mad Irish painters are finished. Yes Irish painters all the way from Kilkenny. The crack should be almost as good as the painting!

I am so loving these little views into your new home! SO excited to see it decorated. I am very jealous of you having someone in to do it as I am currently doing painting in our home and it is so tedious!! That chair in your office is sex on legs!!
Good luck with it all!!

That is such a fabulous office space (what you have to work with I mean). Right now I'm relegated to the dining table. I can't wait to see how that rooms turns out.
And I'm glad you like to the parcel contents, especially considering how long it took me to finally send it to you. :P

Irish painters? They're not called Rooney, are they? No seriously, your office space is going to be fabulous. White, white, white will work brilliantly. Love your kilim too. xx

I love it as it is, can't imagine what it will look like with magazines off the floor (which I like, so don't rush)! It does sound like you're having fun, so don't stop!

I just reread my post and I can't believe I wrote "You're office" instead of "Your office." Would you believe I'm an editor? I can only plead exhaustion . . .

Great to see Mickey has settled well... I wondered where his dolphin has disapered too.... Kelvins discription of your new home doesnt do it justice, it is beautiful and look forward to many more pictures. Ruth and Kat

Anita unfortunately they are not Mr Rooney and somehow I don't think we will be discussing existentialism or the works of the Bronte sisters. Still they have lovely lilting Irish accents. They are from Kilkenny so no jokes about as mad as Kilkenny cats I suppose. Perhaps we can discuss the finer points of Gaelic football or hurling. I have a stick somewhere I think.

Sheila if the wallpaper had been in better condition I have thought of keeping it but alas it's cactus.

Thanks Bronwen :)

Priscilla you will be pleased to know that there will always be magazines in stacks all over my floors. I can't exist without them.

Lin I'm still pinching myself to have such a wonderful space to work in.

Ruth & Kat Mickey is more than settled in. He owns the place and barks at EVERYTHING that goes up and down the street :)
