A compact + modern apartment in Moscow

A contrast of white plaster and raw, rust-washed concrete. Painted brick counterbalances sleek kitchen cabinetry. A simple, bright, modernist approach was taken by architecture firm Crosby Studios with this 590 sq ft Soviet era apartment. The addition of plants throughout make this an A+ home in my book. Weekend getaway

In my dreams you'll find me here, kicking off my weekday worries at the door like a pair of shoes. My hardest decision at this Palm Beach house on Sydney's Northern Beaches would be whether to stay in or venture down to the village or perhaps to one of the two beaches just minutes from the door. In my dreams life is really tough. You don't have to use your imagination though. The Pavilion House is available for holiday let through Contemporary Hotels.

A beach house in Malibu

Summer appears to be sticking around a little longer here in Ottawa with temperatures reaching 40 tomorrow. FINE BY ME! In the meantime I am trying to enjoy every moment I can outdoors...and then I came across this beach house in Malibu and was blown away by how beautiful it is inside and out. I would give anything to be able to enjoy a climate like that year round and be so close to the ocean. By Ignacio Rodriguez Architects.

The beauty of simplicity

Sometimes we get carried away with adding more and more design details to our rooms. Layering on the textures, adding more and more pieces of furniture, more and more bells and whistles, losing the essence of a space, concentrating on the accoutrements not the substance. Connecticut interior designer Calla McNamara's work is defined by neutral color palettes, minimalist architecture and natural materials. It is clean lined and considered, beautiful in its simplicity. A breath of fresh air.
