I love a door, don't you? It swings, it folds, it slides, it hides. The joy, the serenity of closing off the cluttered, the dirty, the ugly with a well designed door. Not that there is anything but a calm, almost zen-like quality to this contemporary mansion flat by London-based extrArchitecture. It's like a beautifully crafted puzzle box.
Not at all what you would expect within the walls of this traditional Scottish stone cottage in Aberdeen. Light, bright and contemporary with a Scandi meets mid century vibe. Heath Cottage by Brown + Brown Architects.
It's like I say week after week. If you have to drag yourself into work on the weekend it helps if it's somewhere stylish. White and wood with pops of greenery and mint. The studio offices of interior designer Marta Castellano are so fresh and fun.
I had to share this home in Biarritz, France I came across on vtwonen because I think a Sunday should start off with a smile. And this home has me grinning from ear to ear. Gutting this Sydney beachside house back to structural columns and beams Madeleine Blanchfield Architects then set about creating, in their words, "a home that was whimsical, calm, inspiring, slightly quirky and deeply personal." It's big and bold yet intimate and informal, a luxurious take on the beach living. A cutting edge home that will become a classic.
