Hard core

It does not get much more hard core than this. A new location property (4300 sq ft victorian semi detached) available via Shoot Factory. I don't think I need to say more. :)

Goodwill Hunting

I had to revisit the home of interior designer Caecilia Potter as it is one of my all-time favourite homes we have featured on the blog. A Victorian mansion in Melbourne, Australia, this home is spectacular in its stateliness, architecture, furnishings....everything. It is EVERYTHING. (Photos: Atticus & Milo and The Design Files)

A rescue in Melbourne

The talented folks at Robson Rak Architects took this tired Victorian home in Melbourne and transformed it into a modern masterpiece, while renovating the existing structure and restoring the façade. It must be an incredible feeling to walk under that ornate porch, through the front door, under gorgeous original arches and you are lead into BOOM - a large, open and bright space that is really stunning. All of that reclaimed wood lends a bit of nature to the space and keeps it from being too cold. Respecting the old and embracing the new.

A resplendent revival

This resplendent, inviting home in Sydney of Justin van den Berg and Michael Arends was featured on The Generalist and is a must-share. The 1865 terrace home has such stunning period features, and was lovingly restored and renovated to make it much brighter (a skylight was added over the very dark stairwell) and more open (a wall was removed in the kitchen to open it to the dining space). Mostly furnished with auction pieces the owners have restored, as well as cool trash finds (like the row of theatre seats in the dining room), the home is super cozy and unique.

A Victorian kitchen

Jessica Helgerson is the queen of kitchens, and I had to share yet another one of her amazing kitchen renovations. The kitchen and dining room were remodelled in this old Victorian home in Portland, making a larger, brighter kitchen by using part of a sun porch. It is absolutely beautiful, and so conducive to having large family gatherings where everyone congregates in the kitchen (it's even houses a sofa in case it wasn't inviting enough!)
