A home filled with vintage and Moroccan treasures

This was, up until recently, the Vancouver home of stylist and designer Jennifer Scott and it is sooooo charming and girly and eclectic. You can read all about it in this blog post, but I just wanted to point out how awesome her finds are from her trip to Morocco, and how evident her love of vintage finds is. Her home is so fantastic I had to include a part 2 coming up later of the outdoor spaces.

The Girl with the Green Sofa

Nicola Broughton is a friend of mine on Instagram (@the_girl_with_the_green_sofa). She is a mum to 2 boys Jack and Alfie, lives in Yorkshire, England, is an Investment Director, is a lover of interior design and is now a blogger. And she is the Queen of Maximalism!!! Nicola loves art, wallpaper, colour, patterns, fake plants, refinishing furniture, dark walls, and her made.com green sofa. Her home is cozy, inviting, family-friendly, fun, functional and total eye-candy. Love her home and love her. Thanks so much for wanting to reciprocate the favour and share your home with my readers Nicola! (Check out her post on my home here).

Neutral and thrifty

I had to share this home in Biarritz, France I came across on vtwonen because I think a Sunday should start off with a smile. And this home has me grinning from ear to ear. Scandinavian vibe, lots of whites and neutrals, and thrifted goodies throughout. This is all things lovely. (Photos: Julien Fernandez)

Working on a Sunday

Now this is the type of office I would be more than happy to work in. Especially when it has an equally fabulous coffee shop below it. Welcome to The Haas Collective in Cape Town South Africa. Haas (the Afrikaans word for "rabbit") was born from the wild ideas, passions and endless conversations of creative minds, Glenn Venter, Francois Irvine and Tess Berlein (and in 2012 Francois De Villiers joined). Their dream was to create a hub and an inspiring space where things of beauty could be featured in all shapes and sizes. But more than that, they wanted to give talented individuals a platform to showcase their work. However, what started out as a home of edgy collectables and one-of-a-kind, quirky art pieces (Haas Design) quickly leaped to Haus Coffee, as the demand for enjoying a cup of coffee, while savouring the beauty and energy of this unusual hub, grew. It didn't stop there though...It also naturally developed into Haas Advertising. Located in a heritage building, it took none months of gutting, unearthing original details and renovating to create this dreamy environment. Via Visi (details of the downstairs coffee shop here, details of the upstairs office here).

Progress in my dining room (and some new goodies)

I have been trying to enjoy summer, especially since it is winding down and frigid temperatures are right around the corner (it makes me nauseous typing that). Funny, my younger sister and her family, my husband and I and our parents were hanging out in my parents pool on the weekend talking about maybe going to Hawaii, and our typical trip to Puerto Vallarta in February...and we started laughing because it was 35 C out and we are already talking about what we plan to do to survive another Ottawa winter. Anyway, I have been spending time at their pool instead of getting much done around the house but given how much we love this place, I think we will be here a while and will have tons of time. We did venture to Montreal one day a couple of weeks ago and managed to score the coolest credenza/sideboard and light fixture for our dining room. Gawd I love them both!

The night before we went to Montreal I mentioned on Instagram that if anyone had any tips for Mtrl shopping to shoot them my way. Jennifer, my saviour, suggested checking out Benjamin Curran's wares. Am I ever glad I gave him a call to check out his storage space! We scored this amazing vintage walnut credenza with a Brutalist pattern for an awesome price, along with a matching highboy for my husband's dressing room. Good bye craptastic metro shelving! I am so excited to finally have a dining room again with proper storage for dishes and whatever else I don't want in the kitchen.

I pimped out the top of the credenza in a white and black colour scheme...for now. I always change things up.

Vintage West German vases, Green Light District Wonki Ware dessert bowls, platter and pasta bowls (my favourite dishes of all time), small bowl bowl by Don Cormier from General Fine Craft, Catherine Holm bowl from Samantha Howard Vintage, Tillandsia plant from blumenstudio, short candleholder by Normann Copenhagen from The Modern Shop, tall candleholder by John Ward from General Fine Craft

More vintage West German vases, Menu salt and pepper grinders from Greyhorne Interiors (highly recommend these grinders!!!), more Wonki Ware, pot by Hay from The Modern Shop, vintage hand-forged metal rose from the Gore St. flea market in Perth
