Feedin' my needin' for Sweden

Are we still in love with the "Swedish apartment look"? I still am. Lots of white, fabulous parquetry floors, period features, large windows with streaming light. Cute kitchens, compact bathrooms, white and white and in this case punches of rich colour.  What about that kakelugn (tiled stove)? Oh my what I wouldn't give for a kakelugn. The dark floors in the white kitchen are doing it for me too as well as the glimpse of green from the hallway. For sale here.

Simple Swedish summer house

Remember those simple summer holidays? The ones where you packed up the car with all the essentials and just a few little luxuries and made the trek to your holiday spot. Year after year your family always stayed at the same cottage or shack. Simple, basic but oh so special. Days were spent lazing about, swimming or hiking, winding down and enjoying the slow life. I do and I wish I had been able to spend my summer days in a house in the woods like this one in Sweden. Simple but stylish, nothing that isn't necessary and just enough to enjoy your stay comfortably. From water to couch in your still damp swimmers. Picking herbs for lunch from the overgrown patch by the back door. Cooking up a storm and relaxing afterwards with a good book or good friends. Bliss. This lovely summer house belongs to Swedish stylist Mikael Beckman. Unfortunately it is time for him to say goodbye to it and he is selling. Maybe a group of us can pool our pennies and buy it. Link to the sale site here.

Devis Bionaz

Every so often I require a dose of some Swedish interiors to help get me through the day. Today I thought I'd share a selection of such photos by talented Swedish photographer Devis Bionaz - who has happened to have worked for just about every Swedish shelter magazine there is.

Eclectic dreams

Now here's a different take on Swedish white. A huge loft in Stockholm with soaring ceilings, skylights to dream about, a bookcase that makes my heart sing and a roaring fireplace. Eclectic is definitely the vibe here. Contemporary married with fine antiques, throw in tribal pieces and oriental finds, Scandi design and open plan on a grand scale and I'm hooked. Wouldn't you love to snoop through the bookcase, pick up the knick knacks and turn them over, ask to crank the stereo way up. It may not be the place you'd want to make your home but don't you just want to party! Oh imagine ... night time, low light, fire burning, wine in hand and favourite music ... and a couple of dozen of your best friends. For sale here. (Thanks for the link Daniela!)

Needin' Sweden

I know! I know! Bad title but cool home. Nothing pretentious or stuffy. Nothing precious or über cool. Just a lovely inviting apartment in one of Gothenburg's oldest Landshövdingehus. Three things I really love ... the limed floor as opposed to the white painted floors we are used to seeing in Swedish homes, the as usual stunning kakelugn (tiled stove) and the upstairs bedroom retreat but you'll have to wait until after the jump for that one.  For sale here.
