Sprucing up boring bookcases

Do you have some boring white bookcases in your home that aren't really doing anything for ya? Add in some simple display boxes (with raw edges would be yummy, or painted in a really bold neon!), put some rope lighting behind them and BOOYAH! Now they're making a statement! A Brooklyn rowhouse for booklovers and cats

Most of you will know why I wanted to share this post with you. Being a cat mom to many, it's a dream of mine to have a house that coordinates some designs for the cats within the architecture. Design and architecture firm Barker Freeman was asked to convert this Brooklyn rowhouse into a series of lively, light-filled spaces and to provide accommodations for the homeowners two shy but inquisitive cats — including ways for the cats to slip away from unexpected guests. My ferals would totally appreciate that, and they would love this home as much as I would.

I must point out the fact that the bookshelf wall not only has the top accessible to the cats but they can get up there via shelves that project to create invisible steps.

Kitchen envy - latest from Henrybuilt

Henrybuilt. What kitchen dreams are made of. I have been a huge fan of this American company's work for years (previous feature here) and I continue to be impressed with their craftsmanship and attention to detail. And I am still dreaming of the day I can have my own Henrybuilt kitchen. Given the minuscule size of my current kitchen, I totally understand the importance of having a place for everything and having functional cabinetry. Half of my cabinets are a pain in the ass to access which is ridiculous given I don't have enough storage space to begin with. These folks would solve all my problems. I get so giddy just thinking about what they could do to my kitchen. Not only do they create dream kitchens but interactive wall panels, wardrobes, bathrooms and furniture and anything else you could want built out of wood.

A bright, renovated apartment in Paris

Easing into the weekend with a bright, somewhat colourful, 77  apartment in Paris that was recently renovated. Architect/designer Camille Hermand continues to amaze me with her use of colour, unique storage solutions and just all-around charming vibe of the places she has transformed. That teal is SO pretty.
