High Fashion Home

We've got a new sponsor in the house, by the name of High Fashion Home. It's another I could not help but get excited about because they have some reeeeeally hot furniture. I found at least 10 pieces I adore within the first couple minutes on their website. Yeah, it's yummy. They have a huge 125,000 sq ft location in Houston, TX, that looks like a playground for interior design enthusiasts. And you can shop online, and they currently ship only to destinations within the 48 contiguous states, so some of us (like Jo and I) will have to love from afar. They cater to all sorts of styles, as you will see below: Earthy Modern, Industrial Countryside Chic, French Gothic Arboretum, Rustic Zen Ranch, Boutique Hotel, Traditional Glam and Office Vintage Chic. (P.S. They have jumped on the blog bandwagon - check it out here.)

Fabrica Verde

I love photography - my favourite hobby next to decorating - and finding out what our latest sponsor sells got me all worked up. Fabrica Verde carries Diana and Lomo cameras and accessories!! Who they are: "A confederacy of photographers, musicians and designers bound by the secret handshakes of late night revelry.  A posse of guys and girls who live in New York, travel the world, and share your passion for Lomography/creative photography, great design, irony, and the somewhat askew. We personally test, employ, and love everything that we sell." These are the coolest cameras ever - and they look like they'd be a blast to play with. I am seriously dying to get my hands on one - would make a perfect Christmas gift. *wink wink nudge nudge* I devoured their website and grabbed photos of some of the cameras they carry and sample photos. LOVE!!

Jackson Street Furniture

Jackson Street Furniture is a new sponsor of ours that we're really excited about because it's MODERN! HIP! CREATIVE! Adam Fizgerald is the genius behind this company. Having trained as an architect and worked on large scale projects for many years, Adam craved working on design at an intimate, human scale. So he began designing furniture....and the kicker? His pieces are reasonably priced! My favourite is the NO PLANE JANE storage unit (first photo below), which would be perfect in the library I hope to have when I do the additions to my house.

A caribou, a polar bear, a sheep and their woods are our new sponsors

Über talented Paige Russell has done it again ... and just in time for Christmas.  These sweet little characters are part of her new range,  Müzo Collectibles. Made from porcelain and sustainably harvested black walnut or maple, Caribou, Polar Bear, and Sheep live in The Woods, their natural habitat of silk-screened wood veneer trees. If you click on her button in the right-hand column you'll find even more fab gift ideas.

A great book, a great store, and a great opportunity

Since I have the day off from work I thought I'd use this opportunity to get through some posts I have been wanting to include here lately that I haven't had a chance to what with wedding plans monopolizing what little spare time I have.

To start, even though Jo mentionned this book back in a WINKS post in April, I finally got my hands on a copy (gotta love snail mail from the other side of the world) and wanted to do my own plug, because it is JUST THAT GOOD. The book I speak of is Australian stylist Megan Morton's Home Love. And I have ALOT of love for this book. I have not had a chance to devour every word yet but I have devoured every photo and they are stunning. What I have managed to read of it so far is very useful tips and suggestions for creating different flavours of rooms. Megan has included alot of her own personal experiences which I think brings this book to a certain level of reality. It's definitively one of my new favourites that will sit proud on my coffee table, and I highly suggest that if you don't have a copy already, that you go find one ASAP (or try here). Oh - and Megan happened to mention our little blog on page 92. :) Here is a sneak peak...

Next order of business is a new advertiser has joined DTI, and I'm totally stoked about this one. It's a shop called Redefine Home, run by David Betz and Linsi Brownson, a home builder and interior designer by trade. They started this online shop last year,  and are proud to work with local artists and small companies, and offer products that are exclusively made for Redefine Home. They offer a bit of everything, from furniture, lighting, textiles, kitchen and bath products, art...they have it all.  I'm stoked because there are so many items they carry that I'd love to get my hands on. (Shipping is free on orders over $50 in the U.S. and I am pleased to tell you that they ship to Canada! And the UK!) Here are just a few of my favourites:

And lastly, I received an email from Greg at 2Modern who wanted to put the word out that they are looking for some new guest bloggers on the 2Modern blog. Anyone can inquire. Guest bloggers post once a week on a chosen day...topics range from modern design, architecture, furniture, lighting, etc. The bloggers are from all over the world (but posts are in English only) and from all walks of life (architects, modern connoisseurs, designers, etc.). A link to contact them if you're interested is here.
