The timbered house

It is as if an exquisitely restrained, minimalist interior has been inserted into a 19th century timbered house. Colour is used sparingly and when it is, coloured blocked "boxes" contain the new. The stark contrast between old and new heightens the impact of both. Maison à Colombages by 05AM Arquitectura.

La Granja Ibiza

Is it too early in the week to indulge in a virtual getaway? No I didn't think so. OK drink in all these photos, close your eyes and daydream at your desk. La Granja Ibiza was once a private residence but now a small hotel with only 5 rooms and a separate guesthouse. A dreamy Madrid home in gold and black

Reader's home - Andrew's renovated minimalist flat in Madrid

In February a reader named Andrew sent over photos of his Devon Rex for Monday's Pets on Furniture, and the other day he send along some photos to his newly renovated flat in Madrid. A huge congrats to him as it is an incredibly drastic transformation that turned out beautifully, and was recently featured in AD Spain. I have to start with a few before photos. It turns out it had been home to squatters for 20 years before Andrew got his hands it. It had no working bathroom, lowered ceilings, ruined floor and walls....it was pretty hideous.

And look at it now!!!!! (Photos: Lupe Clement)
