The house rides the site like a galleon on a sea of gum trees (or what a least to an Aussie look like eucalyptus trees). You'll find me lazing on the fabulous outdoor area with its shade cloth flapping in the breeze. Casa Tunquén by Chilean design firm CO2 Arquitectos.
Just outside Uruguay's hip resort town of Punta del Este, in the coastal village of La Barra is the small and charming hotel Casa Zinc. Just six guest rooms and a life time of vintage finds. Industrial and salvaged, antique and just plain quirky. Long summer days by the sea just got a lot more interesting with digs like these.
Run away! Run away! Dream of a way to get away. It's Monday and you're chained to your work desk. Take a little time to fantasise about Hotel Fasano Punta del Este in Uruguay. A breathtaking setting for a stylish complex designed by Isay Weinfeld. Whether leaning on the sill of the indoor pool or watching the sun go down with cocktails on the deck I'm sure you can escape through your computer screen for just a little while. No one will notice. I promise.
I am a creature of habit it seems. Mondays are developing a distinct pattern. Mondays are the day I run away to a virtual retreat, escape to a veritable feast for the eyes. I play make believe. This Monday, then, is no different. I'm running away as fast as I can to this little eco cabin in Uruguay I found on the pages of Elle Decor España. Simple, unpretentious and beautiful. Don't come visit me straight away though. I'm draining the water tank dry in that outdoor shower. I know. Not very eco of me but I am just day dreaming here ... and what a lovely daydream.
