Our Print Collection

I'm been a big fan of Aussie stylist Emma O'Meara. Her work has appeared in Inside Out, Real Living and House & Garden just to name a few. Now she has embarked on a new adventure with photographer Jason Furnari.  They have opened an online print store called Our Print Collection where they offer affordable photographic art for interiors - limited edition pieces, either unframed or framed. I love Jason's photographs and how Emma has styled the shots on the website. Now I just have to choose a favourite!

Working on a Saturday

Saturday? Work day? Bummer! But there's no need to be glum if you work in someplace stylish and fun. I'd happily drag my sorry self into work if I was a sales assistant at vintage clothing and accessories store, Vintage Sole, by Melbourne-based Moth Design. Yes cool clothes, yes copper pipe hanging racks but whoa, knockout stencil floor idea for those of us who can't afford meters and meters of encaustic tiles.

Green Light District

Last weekend while the husband and I were in Toronto participating in the Fall Antique & Vintage Market we FINALLY got to visit Green Light District. Deborah and David started this shop here in Ottawa but a few years ago packed up and moved themselves and the store to Toronto. This was my first time in Toronto since the move so I was stoked to check out their new digs in the really fun neighbourhood of Roncesvalles (a short jaunt from downtown). We met them at the shop where I toured around drooling over all their wares and snapped photos, then we all went for dinner a 2 minute walk down the street at Hopgood Foodliner (amazing drinks and food - try the Newfie Fried Rice!). I really can't wait to go back to GLD and check out more of that 'hood. Thank you so much Deborah and David! Missed you guys!

Just beyond the Subway is The Chocolateria - OMG! Need to definitively stop in there on the next visit.

Their sign from the Ottawa shop looking right at home against a beautifully restored brick wall.

That petal table is so freaking cute. And such incredible craftsmanship.

They have REAL butterfly chairs complete with leather covers and steel bases. I have always wanted one of those.

(Mom - you need this lamp!)

The day I ran away and moved into a shop or ... Pottery Barn opens in Brisbane

Last Thursday was an exciting day. Iconic home furnishings brands Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids and West Elm opened under one enormous roof in Brisbane. "Ho-hum" yawn those of you who have lived with the Williams-Sonoma group for many years. But not for me. The new kids on the block were bringing their heady mix of unique design, exceptional customer service and their renowned in-store experiences to Bris-Vegas and I wasn't going to miss out on the media preview.

You know what? I was surprised. Not by the quality or the price point or that sales assistants are called associates but by the fact that even though I call myself Midcenturyjo it wasn't just West Elm's mid-mod urban vibe that appealed. No I was seduced by Pottery Barn too! I could move right in!

Working on a Saturday

It's the weekend and you have to work. No need to look so glum if your work place is as amazing as Napoleon Perdis' palace to beauty and glamour. On Chapel St in Melbourne's South Yarra it's a retail fantasy of cosmetics, fashion, home decor and makeup academy. Installation and emporium. OTT and theatrical. Stagy and sexy. Dirty blonde chandelier anyone? By Studiobird.
