Press, Faded Empire and back to work ... 2 out of three ain't bad

Thanks to Real Living magazine for their piece on me in this month's issue on stands today. And isn't that a flattering drawing of moi? I should know because I drew it and I left off all the wrinkles! Not only was it fab to answer a few questions but to see my own illustrations in print was super exciting!

In other exciting news my new online store Faded Empire will be live tomorrow (or tonight if I can iron out the last bugs ...rewind please ... no bugs honestly ... just last minute checking). Hop on over and take a look. We have so many more exciting pieces coming in the next few weeks. Jewellery, decor, clothing and furniture are still to be added. My good friend Kerrie and I hope to bring to our Australian audience little treasures from around the world.

That's the good news. The bad news is that I returned to my government day job today. My how those 6 months flew by! Blogging, online store and day job. I'm a busy girl!

Random on a Sunday

First random piece of business today is the Urban Barn chairity competition I am a part of. Thursday night I got to see my chair in person and I am so happy with how it turned out (photo above). I love it. The chair is SO comfortable and the grey fabric I chose is heavenly (and perfect for pet owners!). Today is the last day to vote, and then from Monday until the 18th it will be up for auction. (The like buttons under each chair will turn to a bid button. People will then be redirected to eBay where they will place their bids.) Proceeds go to charity, and I chose a local cat rescue organization that helped me recently with a stray cat I rescued. They are overflowing with cats (200 last I heard) and are desperate for funding. So please vote today, and bid if you'd like to take my chair home and help a wonderful organization. I am tempted to bid but I have zero space for another piece of furniture in my house. :(
At the in-store event Thursday night I took a few photos around the shop of items that caught my eye:

And of course, I had to bring some goodies home with me:

When a stylist tackles DIY

Kiwi stylist LeeAnn Yare really got her hands dirty at the Signature Prints factory in Sydney when she was lucky enough to be given a lesson in screening her own roll of Florence Broadhurst Horses Stampede in tangerine.  Despite the 40 degree heat in the factory on the day, the result was near perfect, and is now gracing LeeAnn's sons' bathroom walls.  A long time fan of FB designs, LeeAnn is a huge fan of anything handmade, and this experience has only made her appreciate the handmade process even more. Check out LeeAnn's own concept store Collected at BLOC, opening on the 22nd March in Auckland New Zealand, where she will be selling FB wallpaper and fabric, and some one off limited edition surprises.

Photos by Larnie Nicolson Photography. Collected's website will be live this weekend.

Pure & General sale

We interrupt our normal schedule for this news update. I just had to post this. I just had to let Sydney-siders know. Well I had to let anyone who is in Sydney in the next couple of weeks know. My favourite store Pure & General is having a sale! Run don't walk. Manager Cassie promises me there are great deals to be had. My last visit was quite a few months ago now (I posted about it here) but I thought I'd give you another taste of the magic of Pure & General by trotting out my photos again. OK back to normal programming :)
