William Haines

One of the founders of Hollywood Regency style William Haines redefined the way the stars lived in the 30s. After a career as an actor Haines turned to interior design. Clients were friends such as Joan Crawford, Gloria Swanson, Carole Lombard and Marion Davies. Haines' Hollywood glamour continues today with Lindley Associates who faithfully reproduce his elegant classic furniture.

Antti Lovag
Le Palais Bulles (The Palace of Bubbles) by Antti Lovag near Cannes is Pierre Cardin's summer house. Begun in 1975 by Lovag, Pierre Cardin bought it in 1989 for 50 million French Francs. A collection of ferro-cement bubbles the interiors are furnished and decorated in a perfect '70s style."The circle is my symbol," says Pierre Cardin. "The sphere represents the creation of the world and the mother's womb. Holes, cones, breasts—I've always used them in my designs." A futurist architect meets a fashion designer known for his space age futuristic designs. OMG!

When women wore pearls
I love Plan59 the museum (and gift shop) of mid century illustration. 50s images of cars, trucks, old ads and DECOR! They have an online art store where great retro prints can be ordered. It's a fabulous fun look back to when cars had fins and wives wore pearls when preparing the family meal. Miss the fins but not the "perfect wife" image.
