Steve Herud

I have not been this enthralled with a photographer who shoots commercial spaces in a long time, but Steve Herud is a genius when it comes to capturing funky restaurants, hotels and rental apartments. These spaces are gorgeous despite being commercial, and provide tons of inspiration for residential applications. (These photos include Hotel Superbude, Pappa e Ciccia restaurant, No Fire No Glory coffee shop, the FvF + Vitra apartment, Hotel Das Stue, 25 Hours Wien Hotel)

~ Sorry, short on pet entries this week. If you have submission please send them to kim[at]desiretoinspire[dot]net.

G-sign

Since we seem to be on a roll with commercial spaces today, here is another one that was sent to us recently by G-sign, a small design studio in Moscow that specializes in branding and commercial design. This restaurant called Funny Cabany is so cool - I adore the centre tiled cube (the kitchen?), the use of reclaimed wood and industrial light fixtures, and OHHH those brown leather chairs!

Story

Time to take some inspiration from our favourite Finnish interior architect Joanna Laajisto and one of her latest projects, Story, in the Old Market Hall, Helsinki. There are so many ideas to steal from this space. Love the lighting including the old fish trap installation, the colour combinations, the paint with trim finishing part way up the wall, the vertical herringbone tile and the brass kick plate to pick up on a few. As much as the photos really, really make me want to try a meal at Story, they make me start rethinking my kitchen even more.

Cicero

Tommaso Guerra contacted us about his newest interior design project and I absolutely love it and had to share. This can easily translate into designs for the home so get your imaginations going!

A bistro in the heart of Prati district in Rome, open from the early morning until late night:
pastel colours, light wood and colourful fabrics with varied fantasies.
A marriage between nature and serenity.
I figured that going at "Cicero" might be an harmony and finesse experience;
a beautiful space to live, in Nordic atmosphere.
Sitting in a under a large mid-air nest;
enjoying lunch as in a forest, between wood birds houses;
looking up and discovering 55 shades falling out...
The mature interpretation of fairy tale, the inspiration becomes game.
Welcome to "Cicero".
