Chrystobel Crescent

A Federation style house and a modern extension. An earlier renovation that just wasn't working for the owners. Enter Multiplicity who have taken the addition, changed ceiling heights, opened walls with glazing, added interest through timber joinery and brought the uninspiring space to life without the wholesale waste of demolishing an addition that was under 10 years old.

Reader's home - Nicole's renovations have begun

In December 2010, Nicole Lamac found her "forever home" in Victoria, BC. She's been documenting the process over on her blog The House Diaires, and recently featured her laundry/mudroom and main floor bathroom renovations. They are FAB-U-LOUS!!!! Let me show you....

The bathroom was a peach nightmare, and had a terrible layout. They started from scratch with the plumbing so were able to redesign the space.

Oh YEAH

Herringbone carrera and white subway tiles...how could you go wrong with that?!?!

A home in Little Venice - a second try

Another post from last week where photos were not displaying correctly...

The folks over at DOS Architects have completed yet another stellar project in London. This one is located in the 'hood of Little Venice. The glass atrium at the rear of the home housing the dining room is such a beautiful space. I would spend all of my time in there eating, working, having dinner parties and summer barbecues... And the icing on the cake - the large, stunning photograph above the credenza and the Tom Dixon Beat lights taking pride of place above the table. (More of DOS' work here and here)

The renovation of a stucco box

Hunter Kenihan of design/build firm Indian Summer Investments is at it again with another spectacular renovation. Located near Marina Del Rey, California, this 1950's 3 bedroom, 2 bath + den home was completely updated with Hunter's trademark industrial touches that I love - including reclaimed wood inside and out. Some wicker, southwestern patterns and warm colour palette like in the previous home we featured make this a winning combination for an easy sell. Even if you aren't into the decor, take notes folks, as once again this is how you stage and photograph a home on the market.

A new/old home in LA

Hunter Kenihan of design/build firm Indian Summer Investments wrote us to share a recently completed project in the hills of Silver Lake (Los Angeles) where he took a house from the 1920's down to the studs and rebuilt/expanded and modernized it. Unfortunately he didn't send before photos but WOW is this a beautiful home! Everything has been updated. I especially love the kitchen - the mix of reclaimed wood and blue cabinets, along with gorgeous dark hardware and subway tiles. YUM! It's perfectly staged (and photographed) to sell - if it hasn't already. :)
