Going Tribal

Perhaps the post title should be "Going to Tribal", the Tribal Hotel in Granada, Nicaragua. It's Wednesday and I am so in need of a virtual getaway that I'm guessing you are too. A tropical oasis with a boho vibe this boutique hotel is so cool, so stylish and so laid back I know that we'd fit right in. Just need a Macuá in hand to make it paradise.

Outdoor space envy

It is the beginning of the season of hell here in Ottawa, or winter as most of you may know it as. It was -8C overnight, and I am already consistently frozen. Then my folks take off for 3 weeks in Barbados and here I am in alpaca socks and the warmest sweatshirt I own and it is only October. So when I stumble upon an outdoor space this beautiful, I just really want to cry. By Kennedy Nolan in collaboration with Sam Cox Landscape

Mid Mod Country Home

There are several words which when combined make my salivate with anticipation. "Mid mod" and "country home" are combinations that definitely tweak my interest but "mid mod country home" definitely has my quivering. Add in "Shelter Island" and well it's all over. Stalking

I'm in Melbourne (Yay Melbourne for the win again!) stalking a family home in Kew. A 4 bedroom family home with pool renovated by a well know Aussie reality TV reno show couple (the bathrooms are a dead giveaway), it recently sold for $2.9 million. Yikes! The real estate market here in Australia is overheated. Still congratulations to them. It's a lovely makeover. Link here while it lasts.

P.S. Don't you hate early evening photos high on HDR? This place would photograph so well in "natural" light.

Echoes of Old Hollywood

I have had a long love affair with the Spanish Revival style. I think it has to do with the Old Hollywood glamour that I associate with these distinctive houses. Brown Design Group's renovation of 1920s Inverness is beautifully sympathetic but still with more than a nod to contemporary tastes. A perfect marriage between the heavy oak pieces of the era and modern overstuffed linen and leather sofas and statement modern art pieces. Still it's always the wrought iron work, the terracotta and the intricate ceilings that get me as well as the pool side entertaining. Speaking of ceilings what about that original tiled ceiling in the kitchen!
