How we live
It is a nice change of scenery to see spaces with PEOPLE in them. And pets of course. Because gawd forbid someone actually LIVE in all these perfectly styled spaces like we so often feature. HOW WE LIVE. A simple yet brilliant concept. Dogs hovering around the dining table hoping food will appear. A kid jumping on a bed or sofa. A woman rifling through a stack of decor mags.... Photos by one of my favourite photographers Melanie Acevedo.
Janis Nicolay
Vancouver photographer Janis Nicolay has been shooting spaces for all of my favourite magazines for years, and I've been a fan since the beginning. Enjoy these photos of hers of some pretty special spaces, and when you're done, you can check out more on her blog Pinecone Camp.
(of course the first thing I noticed was the book on the coffee table)
Matthew Williams
Kitchen cabinet envy? Maybe, or maybe not when most are out of reach. Cool idea regardless if you are keen on ample storage. That and the other glorious photos by Brooklyn photographer Matthew Williams.
Steve Herud
I have not been this enthralled with a photographer who shoots commercial spaces in a long time, but Steve Herud is a genius when it comes to capturing funky restaurants, hotels and rental apartments. These spaces are gorgeous despite being commercial, and provide tons of inspiration for residential applications. (These photos include Hotel Superbude, Pappa e Ciccia restaurant, No Fire No Glory coffee shop, the FvF + Vitra apartment, Hotel Das Stue, 25 Hours Wien Hotel)
~ Sorry, short on pet entries this week. If you have submission please send them to kim[at]desiretoinspire[dot]net.
