Megan Van Linda

I found Megan Van Linda's beautiful landscaping while checking participating designers' websites at the San Francisco Decorator Showcase. Her gardens are so pretty with soft lush plantings and stylish furniture and garden "rooms". I know what I'm doing this weekend. I'm buying succulents and moss to fill my clam shell. With such a wonderful eye and a super green thumb it's no wonder she was asked to deign an alfresco space at the showcase.

Modular Garden

Kim has a small rather bare backyard. We were only discussing the other day what to do with it now that summer has arrived. Normally on a Sunday Kim scours Flickr for inspiring finds and I thought I would do the same. After typing deck and garden into the search box I didn't have to go far to find all the inspiration I needed. I found modular.garden. Checking their profile I discovered that they are one of the UK's leading garden design companies. Not hard to see why. These are fabulous small space solutions with interesting hard landscaping and gorgeous plantings. With their designs the indoors and out meld seamlessly and "garden rooms" provide much needed extra space. Summer could not come fast enough

I hate winter. Always have. Every winter I wonder what in the bloody hell I live in Ottawa for. This winter was especially bad. VERY. VERY. BAD. Hence my excitement that spring has finally arrived. Spring and summer mean more than just warm weather. It means having more spaces to decorate. :) I posted about the rattan patio set I just picked up, which is a great start to my backyard space. I thought I'd go through my photo stash and see if I could find some inspiration for everyone in my shoes who is just dying to get started outdoors.

Far pavilion

A dreamy afternoon lazing in your private pavilion in a faraway land. The warm breeze stirs the leaves as you flick through the pages of a steamy novel, refreshed by pungent mint tea. It's getting just a little chilly though as the sun moves across the sky. What to do? Why if this was your far pavilion it's just a quick dash across the patio and into your own back door. A little touch of the exotic in an urban back yard. Paradise so close to home!
