Simon Devitt is a wonderfully talented photographer from New Zeland with a penchant for garden gnomes....and these are his photos. No garden gnomes in sight. (Admittedly I've wanted one of these Kartell gnone table-stools for like, ever).
The addiction is spreading. Stalkers are popping up everywhere around the world. Ann from New Zealand emailed with today's house is in Kingsland, an inner city suburb of Auckland. The 1910 wooden cottage is bursting with personality and urban style. Ann says she could happily gaze at all its loveliness but she is particularly smitten with the pressed metal cupboard in the kitchen. The caviar artwork tickles my fancy too. I remember seeing this one in a magazine. Can anyone remember which one? Link here while it lasts.
Pattersons is an architecture firm from New Zealand that is responsible for the creation of some really spectacular homes. Not too fussy or over the top, they specialize in modern designs but keep it simple and elegant. The sheep seem to approve. :)
I love the New Zealand bach. The beach side cottage, the seaside shack, often painted black, pared back, perhaps even a little rough. Somewhere to escape, to interact with nature, to relax, to retreat. The Storm Cottage by architectural firm Fearon Hay with interiors by Penny Hay displays a robust exterior to the world but once inside it is warm, cocooning with a simple luxury. A stylish shelter in the wilds.
Out tomorrow Monday 25 February ... Freedom's latest range. Just a little tease for now. I'm lovin' the retro inspired chairs here. (Nine new chairs, 12 fabrics, 3 leathers.) Aussie readers start getting excited. I've seen shots of the new pieces and I know which ones I will be rushing in to buy. More tomorrow :)
