An inspiring workspace

I work in a typical office building that completely lacks any decent decor and frankly, the place is falling apart and should be condemned. So when we received this submission of the new Microsoft headquarters in Vienna, Austria created by architecture firm INNOCAD, I wanted to share it with you all.  We don't typically blog commercial offices but when I saw the boardroom completely surrounded in wood I was sold. And OMG this place has a slide! FUN!!!

A gorgeous Spanish home

I have just a quick post for you all today as I am trying to enjoy a gorgeous warm and sunny weekend. I spent yesterday at my sister's cottage and today I've got some yard work, spray painting (my shoe shelves need another coat of sealant as many of my shoes ended up with random neon pink marks) and other random chores to get through - anything I can think of to do outdoors. I saw this home on Nuevo Estilo and fell in love. It's my favourite scenario - and old home that has been renovated and brought to life with mostly contemporary decor. It's extra special as it's located on the stunning island of Mallorca, in the Mediterranean Sea. Oh, and it's available for rent as a vacation home here

Miami loft

Check out this swanky pad by Toronto's Prototype Design Lab: Miami Loft was designed for a celebrity client. This residence has incredible spanning views of the local beach front on two sides and has a bespoke quality to its interior design. Juxtaposition between the more traditional design features and the more modern and sleek components such as the bedroom media unit and master bathroom vanity come together elegantly in this project.  This characteristic also renders the space dreamlike as well as a perfect entertainment space. Every element has been custom designed to the smallest detail to fit the particular needs of our client and his desires and habits. SWEET!!!

Candy Factory Lofts penthouse

I recently stumbled upon the portfolio of Johnson Chou, and architecture and design firm based in Toronto and was very intrigued by this penthouse: Situated in a turn of the century candy factory, this 2700 SF loft penthouse suite was one of Toronto's first residential adaptive re-use projects of its kind. The owner, an avid sportsman with a penchant for traveling to remote areas to camp in the wilderness, requested a residence that evoked, within an urban context, a sense of the landscape he loved so much. What I love about this loft is the blend of modern and rustic elements. That juxtaposition gets me going every time.

Mauricio Arruda

Maurício Arruda is a Brazilian architect/designer whose funky, retro apartment was featured here last year. I stumbled upon his website recently and this apartment caught my eye. (The project is from a collective called WHYDESIGN, whose members are Mauricio Arruda, Guto Requena and Tatiana Sakurai). LOVE the gray wall colour. LOVE the forest mural (I have one too!). LOVE the Pierre Paulin Little Tulip chairs. LOVE the rosewood cabinetry. LOVE the graphic wallpapers. LOVE the built-in workspace. Photos by Marcelo Magnani.
