I am SOOOO in love with this house. The mid-century modern vibe interior, the random and quirky exterior and OHHH that outdoor covered hangout nook complete with fireplace. A big thanks to one of our readers, Kris from Vancouver, who just got back froma month in Europe (hate you!). Kris spent a bit of time in Copenhagen and stayed at this incredible hotel called Hotel Alexandra. It's filled with classic Danish furniture and is an absolute dream for anyone out there like me who has a soft spot for anything Danish. I'm talking about the Pelican chair by Finn Juhl, Arne Jacobsen - clocks, Swan + Egg chair, Hans Wegner Teddy Bear chair, Børge Mogensen chairs, a Verner Panton suite...and SWEET vintage posters!
It's been ages since I blogged the work of California interior designer Jamie Bush. I love mid-century spaces so I'm a big fan of his as MCM seems to be one of his specialities. And he might have an ever bigger crush than I do on Serge Mouille lighting.
What can you say about a design firm with the moniker of Chinese Jesus? Wow springs to mind. Modern, luxurious, bold with midcentury riffs. Seamless and streamlined layered with texture. Mike Lee, Deborah Rumens and their team in Venice, California create cool, stylin' sculptural spaces perfect for the modern Mad Men.
I had a blast at the Ottawa Antique Show - twice! I went Friday afternoon and spent about 2.5 hours tagging all of my favourite items while snapping photos, and then when it opened my husband and I went wandering around again. He bought me an old leather doctor's bag (check it out on my page) and I bought a gorgeous modernist necklace by Robert Larin. We returned yesterday morning with my family for a fun outing together - my husband picked up a few silly things when I wasn't watching (LOL) and I snagged some more modernist jewelry (slight obsession). You can see my jewelry purchases over on closet rivalry. Unfortunately I didn't pick up anything for the house because I simply have no room for anything new. :( P.S. Today is the last day of the show!
Here are a whole bunch of photos I took on Friday. Photos 3-7 are from my favourite booth which is also where I picked up the jewelry. It's Samantha Howard Vintage from Toronto. Samantha and her modernist jewelry and mid-century ceramics were awesome and I am a new huge fan.
