A Victorian period home in London

It isn't often that a home is so beautiful it practically has me in tears. This is one of those homes. This very large, 4 story Victorian home in London has been furnished with junk shop, auction and eBay finds. The kind of finds you can't find anywhere around the Ottawa area, and the kind I imagine salivating over if I ever have the opportunity to visit London, or Paris, or any other city with unimaginably fantastic flea markets. A renovated Victorian in London

When old becomes new, and no expense appears to have been spared in the renovation of this semi-detached 4 story, 3,700 sq ft Victorian in Brixton, London. The dark grey stained herringbone hardwood floors are fantastic, and so much drama was added simply by painting the stairs, doors and their frames and some built-in bookcases black. This is classy yet liveable and significant attention to detail in the finishes. Glorious! Available as a location home through the one and only Shoot Factory.

A flat in London with lots of character

I get really excited when I come across a home with lots of character, where period details have been maintained. This 2 bedroom flat situated on the first and second floors of a traditional terraced house in Newington Green, north London is the home of designer Abigail Edwards, and several of her beautiful wallpapers and fabrics are featured throughout. Set against a backdrop of old wood floors, exposed brick and large windows, this definitively got me excited. Available as a location home through Shoot Factory.

A relook at Mapesbury Road

It has been a few years since Jo featured Mapesbury Road, the home of stylist Marianne Cotterill. This utterly covetable home is currently available for shoots via 1st Option and they kindly sent over lots of juicy photos. This home speaks to me on so many levels. The architecture alone is incredible, then add in all of the absolutely stunning vintage furnishings and the heart palpitations begin. I can see myself forever moving pieces around from room to room trying out different combinations. I love this sooooo much. Thank you 1st Option for the reminder of how fabulous this home is.

Mixing old and new in a London home

I found this 5 bedroom West London terrace home on Shoot Factory and was instantly intrigued. The house has recently been extended to include a super sleek concrete inspired kitchen and dining space. A truly unique space – the floor, kitchen island, dining table, and seating is all constructed from almost seamless concrete. Finished with grey elm joinery, the kitchen-come-living space is beautifully simplistic and light. The exterior of the extension is made up of large expanse of glass and clad in rusted corten steel. The front sitting room provides a more traditional feel with bay window, herringbone flooring, original cornicing and ceiling rose, and beautiful marble fireplace. I feel like the concrete in the kitchen is a bit overkill....maybe if it didn't run partially up the walls too and the bench at the built-in table was made of wood instead. Regardless the cabinets are gorgeous and I love the subtle tile backsplash. I have also fallen head over heels for that grey subway tile in the bathroom and may try and find something similar for my bathroom reno (likely cheaper than the marble subway tile I was thinking of using).
