Kitchen love

I love a good eat-in kitchen. Nothing too big or too fancy. Somewhere to create great food and great family memories. And I love this kitchen by Los Angeles based interior designer Amy Sklar. The floor, the moveable island bench, the mix of metals, the wall of pots and pans and those sweet little windows above the sink.

Apartment living at its finest

Apartment living really isn't for me (at least while I live in Ottawa where houses are as affordable as condos) but the units in this building in Stockholm are spectacular. Originally a residential building, then converted into offices, the crew at Oscar Properties are lovingly restoring the structure back into apartments. Turn of the century architecture, with sophisticated luxurious spaces that have a Parisian vibe. This first kitchen is SO dreamy. The cabinetry colour, marble, gold and copper accents...YUM.
P.S. I am short on pet entries this week - if you would like to submit photos please send them to kim[at]desiretoinspire[dot]net. Thanks!

Fringe Architects

Like many of the Australian houses I feature here the Trellis House by West Australian design firm Fringe Architects involves an extension to a late 19th/early 20th century building. These inner city homes are small, often dark and not at all suited to our modern way of life. Their location in desirable inner city suburbs will see owners extend them to embrace more space, the open plan living we all desire these days and an almost culturally ingrained need for Australians to open the indoors to the out. This Perth home sees the marriage of old and new, modern with mid century, polished concrete, exposed brick and a set of pivoting doors that would not be out of place in a Palm Springs mid century pad.

Some dreamy kitchens

Robinson + Grisaru Architecture PC are the masterminds behind these gorgeous kitchens. The first one is breathtaking. Just those windows alone have won me over, nevermind how much I would love doing dishes with that view.

When can I move in?!

I really love my house in the city. But I sometimes get tired of hearing city buses whizzing by, or helicopters coming in for a landing (I live right across the street from a hospital). This old rectory in the UK is an absolute delight, and I would pack up and move here in an instant. The kitchen and huge butlers pantry are so utterly perfect I am having heart palpitations. Welcome to my dream home. Available as location home via Shoot Factory
