Sergio Ghetti

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you all get to enjoy some great weather and fun activities. I will be taking a break from studying tomorrow night for dinner out and a Kings of Leon concert (LOVE them Followills!). I leave you today with some fine images from Italian photographer Sergio Ghetti. I find portfolios like Sergio's very intriguing. The spaces are rather raw and natural (he even had the opportunity to photograph a grotto doubling as someone's home!). It is a nice break from the overly styled photos you find in magazines where everything is far too perfect. I am not a fan of perfection.

Reader's home - Dana's darsena sul lago

This next reader's home belongs to Dana. I featured her Italian villa last year, and today I'd like to share her lakeside home ("darsena sul lago" = dock on the lake) on Lake Como. It's 35 sq m, with wooden beams and white walls, furnished with antique Asian furniture and flea market finds. There is a steel trap door in the floor to access the private boat dock and a cantilevered terrace with incredible views of the lake. So lovely! Not sure what I love more - the views or that kitchen!

Quickie 2

I warned you! More from the dark side. The Milan loft of furniture designer Rodolfo Dordoni via AT Casa. This is more me. Still undecided on the oversized humanoid sculpture (this coming from a woman with a life size Mary and Jesus statue, a 3m Papua New Guinea spirit post and a Tiwi burial pole) but the rest is perfect. Soon I too shall be welcomed home each day by a darkling den.

A Milanese palazzo

I saw this home on Yatzer about a week ago and nearly peed my pants. I think I've seen it on a couple of blogs already but I had to include it here because I freaking love it. Built in the 18th century, it's now owned by designers Britt Moran and Emiliano Salci of Dimore Studio, who set up their studio on the ground floor and their residence above. If that was mine I wouldn't want to ever leave it either. It's understated level of coolness is mesmerizing. Totally unique and edgy but timeless at the same time. (Photos by Emanuele Zamponi)
