Scale of Ply

Like a giant origami box or an exercise in geometry this remodel and extension of a Victorian house in Dublin by Noji "uses plywood as a primary and secondary structural material to replace an aged conservatory that acted as the main light source for the ground floor. The prefabricated plywood structure allows for a series of interconnecting triangular plains positioned to allow light deep into the plan as the sun moves through the day." Love the intersecting lines and the tumble of triangles but the math involved in its design would have blown my mind.

A London residence by Kingston Lafferty Design

I am a huge fan of the unique, eclectic style of Dublin-based interior architecture and design firm Kingston Lafferty. This project is filled with random awesomeness, including glimpses into a dreamy kitchen. The brief was to create a cooking/dining experience that felt like a buzzing restaurant. Maven loves pale pink

I could not help but notice Catherine and Patricia of Maven seem to have a crush on pale pink so I thought I would do a little round-up of their spaces featuring this colour. A lovely reminder why I love my dining room painted in Farrow & Ball's Calamine so much. :)

Bladon by Maven

Dark walls, accents in orange, Panton S chairs, Vladimir Tretchikoff art (I have the 'Chinese Girl' print above over my living room fireplace) .....what's not to love about this project by Belfast, Northern Ireland-based Maven? It is bold and whimsical, and their online shop is pretty fabulous too - they carry Hay, Ferm Living, Marimekko, Muuto, Normann Copenhagen etc.

Refreshing a family home

Every home needs a little decor refreshing from time to time, and this family home was in desperate need of a makeover. Because this is a small space, Kingston Lafferty Design understood the importance of creating the illusion of more space and keep it as bright as possible. Above is what the space looked like before. BLEH! The result below is casual with a little funk, yet sophisticated. What a difference!
