You may remember the thatched cottage kitchen by Fawn Interior Design Studio that I swooned over a few months ago. (In case you don't you can find it here.) I thought you might like to see more of this lovely old home. Robert and Tamsin Allen have now worked their magic on the reception rooms. The sitting room is like a private members' club, dark and comfy, stylish and relaxing. The living room is more like a cinema room, darker and den-like while the dining room is lighter, the perfect spot for afternoon homework or gathering with family and friends to share a meal.
It must be an Australian thing but all the fun happens out the back of our houses especially in old houses with new extensions. I'm stalking a Victorian era house in a leafy street in Melbourne's Elwood. While the facade sports a cool contemporary paint job the building still remains true to its architectural past. Hints of what is to come are revealed as you walk through the front door passing the bedrooms then BAM! all minimal and scandi, edgy and modern. Link here while it lasts.
P.S. Does anyone else's inner stylist want to tidy those beds and pull the vacuum cleaner backwards and forwards evenly over the carpet?
I am crushing hard on this home designed by London-based Tiffany Duggan of Studio Duggan. It is a eye-catching blend of dark colours, pattern, some pink which always wins me over, and graphic patterned tile. Yes, yes, yes and YES!
There is a distinct Belgian vibe to this house by Nashville-based interior designers Parkes and Lamb Interiors. The grey colour palette enhanced with muted blues and taupes. The layering of rough textures with smooth, raw wood with plaster, whitewash and linen. It's a house with personality, a mix of new and old, high and low, traditional yet contemporary. Beautiful. Comfortable.
