Tim Cuppett Architects

Hearth and home. Sense of place and purpose and history. Homes to anchor a well lived life. Tradition and quiet modernism. Genius loci, respect for the past, reach for the future but gently, solidly, purposefully and creatively. Inspiration from Austin, Texas based Tim Cuppett Architects.

Johnny Miller

Dear Mr Miller,

This is a love note. I love your sense of colour. I have never felt green before. Perhaps I have but your greens, oh my, they thrill me. I love the light in your photos. Soft like a whisper, a promise, a dream. I love your composoition, your depth of field. No. No. Those are technical ideas. It's more than that. I want to rip through my screen and just be in your shots. Somewhere an old clock is ticking, children are laughing outside and a dust mote hangs in the air. I just sit and breath in the beauty.

Greenhouse by Joost

Eco-friendly, sustainable design, pop-up restaurant by Joost Bakker for the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival. The building and furniture are made from reclaimed or recycled materials, organic waste is composted and feeds the herbs, no mains electricity (it's generated and fuelled by pure, unrefined canola oil), wall cladding and structural bracing is all-natural, formaldehyde-free plywood. (You can read more on Joost's site). Raising grid like around the structure is Joost's signature reo bar grid gardens. You can read more about Greenhouse by Joost and chef Matt Stone on photographer and story teller Beth Jenning's website. Beth generously shared these photos with us after her visit to the restaurant and I guarantee as great as these shots are her food shots will have you salivating.

Matt Woods and an Enmore house

One to watch. New kid on the block. Rising star. Top 10 Forces and Faces. OTT with the hyperbole? I don't think so. Matt Woods is definitely a name to bookmark. This Sydney designer is turning up in all the best design mags and being shortlisted for design awards. The look is eclectic with a balance of raw and minimal, his approach about sustainability and adaptive re-use. Think gritty city meets cool way to live. First up today this Enmore, Sydney house. The renovation of this old terrace included the kitchen and bathroom. Love the recycled timber as wall cladding, the Moroccan riff to the bathroom and the Henry Pilcher Block 2 pendant. Next up will be a Woods designed restaurant. Photos by Chris Corboy.

Take me away ...

... and pop me into this fabulous room. Oh my. I'm always drawn in by the beauty of ordinary things. And this is very beautiful. From the portfolio of Swedish stylist Tina Hellberg, photography by Idha Lindhag for Elle Interiör.
